Install VLC, log out of iTunes, copy MP3 files and playlists to VLC via USB or VLC-wifi, cell and wifi off, enjoy. Runs old iOS but radios off, so who cares. Bluetooth 4.2 just works better than most modern BT5.X systems. 3.5mm jack for wired headphones. 16GB or more storage. 4 oz. e-waste in a drawer to tunes in my pocket.👍

@Orb2069 @cstross @wyatt_h_knott Electricians are now being trained on the job to deal with high-voltage (800V) DC power supplies, TI is making hardware to handle it. And equipment is being made to generate (electrically) clean 800VDC power on-site. That seems useful outside of running data centers, maybe for large solar farm management and distribution, not to mention electric vehicle systems.

@chu @tadbithuman Something I've seen a few times recently: Modern gadgets that have "power" switches on them, physical on-off switches, those switches might not actually turn the gadgets off. Maybe the computer running the gadget sees the switch is "off", goes into a low-power mode, so it is "mostly off". Or maybe the computer just turns off the screen and ignores button pushes, pretends to be off, but it is actually still completely on, just ignoring you.
