This country's planted thick with laws from coast to coast--man's laws, not God's--and if you cut them down...do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then?"

They convinced you all that you'd be tech bros one day and have given you just enough gold to not care about the quality of your work. Unionize now. Adopt professional standards of safety and reliability. Care for the juniors and the over 50s. Programming was never a mote. It was just rare. Y'all taught the kids to code and devalued yourselves

@Purple using AI is just like managing a fairly incompetent Junior. Welcome to management. This is the fear and dread and uncertainty that you feel for the first couple of years after somebody has put you in charge of a software team. Where productivity can't be managed, and the results are not really within your control. How long do you wait to fire your AI assistance and go looking for another?

@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social "host city" is clever phrasing. It's not a cloud, it's a parasite.

@mhoye@cosocial.ca they were never okay with Agile and they have never been okay with pair programming. From their POV, AI is a senior.

@exchgr@mastodon.world power corrupts. This true according to science. It's lack of trust in others is the corrosive force at play. There's no war except the class war. It's capitalism and the belief that we're individuals rather than nested collections of families. Turtles all the way down. 🐢🐢🐢🐢

@roadriverrail the only thing I need those skills for is to get paid. I'll be saluting whatever flag my employer flies, because nobody I've ever worked with gets promoted on the quality of their email game. We're raising our prices and delivering slop. And, the customers are not churning. Not my cirus, not my monkey 🐒

You are absolutely correct. Your time is valuable.... To yourself, but not to them. Do you use self-checkouts, or non-human curated search engines? Your complaint is that you can't cry your way out of a speeding ticket? This is the future. We are all treated like food delivery cyclists. Society is going to have to change. The rules are going to have to change.

@paco@infosec.exchange This is huge. LLM assisted code has three main benefits.
- The developer has to think about the requirements
- The LLM is far more likely to add comments as plain text in the output so humans can reason about it
- Comments make the codebase more digestible for LLM to be better the next time.

@freakonometrics@mastodon.social Classifying or labelling people is a horrible message. This is an atrocious speech. Not at all appropriate for college graduation. Deterministic thinking does not promote growth. In all things, work with the team you have.
