Status update on the blanket I’m knitting for my sister, if you’ve ever wanted to see sibling love embodied.
Ignore the cat hair and the cat toys. The former will be removed from the final product, the latter is just how we live man.
Just wanted to say: I finally gifted the fidgets I bought from @britt@mstdn.games and my friend’s (neurodivergent) child is *obsessed* with them. They’re ordering more.
someone just told to me that they hate how they have to spend an hour every Monday morning figuring out what it is they are supposed to do at work and to that I say:
that’s how you know that you have good work-life boundaries and that your weekends are actually restorative. because if you forget what you’re supposed to be doing, that means you actually got a mental break from it.
so yeah, that first hour of Monday is *supposed* to be about figuring out your job. again.
what’s going on here?
Last night we called 911 because 7 adults living in this building confirmed smelling gas.
and it turned out that the remaining 2 adults were harboring the remnants of a ripe durian in their trash.
A ladder and an engine came out. With a command vehicle! They took the durian with them when they left. Laughing.
I’ve been a chronically late person my whole life and recently committed to change my ways.
Now I’m half an hour early everywhere and other people are often 15 minutes late.
Being early sucks? Send help.
cozy Banana roll
(for the record: she did this all herself, I didn’t wrap her)
your long read for the weekend.
so what? no fuckin’ ziti?
I was heading back to my apartment in New York late last night, in a nearly empty subway car. A man dressed in workwear got on, carrying a set of tools including a large, heavy metal spike, flattened at one end. I nervously looked at this thing that could easily be a lethal weapon.
He read my expression immediately: “I’m an iron worker, it’s a pry bar, we use it to make things fit when they don’t want to fit.”
An iron worker. Carrying a full set of his tools on public transit. This man builds skyscrapers and takes the R train to work. Tell me why you need a lifted F-250 for your quarterly trip to Home Depot?
Not to post cliches, but is there a greater test of a parent child relationship than setting up a new phone?
PSA: after a delay, Port of Oakland Harbor Tours have been announced for 2026.
They always sell out so set a reminder to grab tickets for the time you want.
