Anyone is/knows of a Japan-based illustrator with bandwidth for small commission work (details below).
Paid (obviously).
The work (for now) is to draw up a set of hanafuda-inspired cards. Fairly simple graphics, but very specific style, reused in a number of combinations.
And yea, this is typically the kind of thing AI would do fairly well, but I'd much rather give work to a human and get human art out.
Living in London and Paris as a teenager, I used to think I had chronic clinical depression…
Turned out I just really hated winter.
Shuffle mode PhD thesis idea:
Moby caused Global Fascism in the 21st Century.
abstract:
By briefly becoming a parangon of hypocritical performative virtues, while building his career off the uncredited work of black artists, early 2000s electronic artist Moby simultaneously co-opted and fatally undermined the progressive momentum of the late 90s, paving the way for the current resentment-fuelled fascist backlash.

Pretty much the entirety of the US political commentariat (MAGA *and* Dems) these days:
Kabukicho: where you can cross path with Euro tourists slaloming around Nigerian touts with their baby pram, while a rat colony watches on…
My recent brush with the slow-motion car-crash that is #Copilot 365, made me ponder a bit further on the future of MS Office tools and, by extension, #Microsoft itself…
Setting aside the typical botched execution by a large dysfunctional tech corp trying to hop on the AI bandwagon, one of the fundamental reasons why agent integration into an Office suite will always be a shitshow, is that Office formats (doc, xls…) are the *polar* opposites of what works well with LLMs…
Today, I spent 2 whole hours out of my very finite existence on earth, trying [unsuccessfully] to sync back my 2 bluetooth earbuds together. AMA.
Today, the algorithm decided to serve me back a timeless classic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLVmybhXqtU

Reading up on Kabuki lore, with a mention of the Shiraito falls "in Shizuoka"… but distinctly remembering visiting the Shiraito falls in *Nagano* last month…

Someone has been a very naughty boy…
Remember the quaint old days of 2025, when some western govts took offence at anyone calling Israel an apartheid state, or called "antisemitism" at any suggestion that there was an ongoing genocide in Gaza?
Over the past few weeks #Israel has:
1. voted a law essentially allowing it to summarily execute Palestinian prisoners
2. doubled-down on its ethnic cleansing of both #Gaza *and* the West Bank
3. relentlessly bombed out civilians in Lebanon, dropping ~100 bombs on Beirut today
Phone photo hobbyists, I need recommendations for an older phone with a great lens to use as a dedicated camera:
♻️ At least 2y old - planning to buy second hand
🤖 Android - don't wanna pay the apple tax
📸 Camera hardware and software is all I care about - will not even put a SIM card in it
🎨 Mainly to shoot people at ~1-3m, occasional landscapes, very rare close-ups → no use for widelens, macro nice-to-have
After 3 months of desperately trying to keep Jellyfin up for more than 24h straight on a Rpi 4, my love affair with #raspberrypi might be starting to wane…
(I'm not super happy about Jellyfin either, but given the lack of decent alternatives, it still beats nothing)
Thanks to SoundCloud geofenced adverts, I now know that French people can get great prices on the latest Hyundai “Tuckson”…
"Amazon plans to address a string of recent outages, including some that were tied to AI-assisted coding errors"
> Amazon said in a statement at the time that the outage was the result of “user error” and not AI
Translation: "It's not AI if there was a human somewhere that clicked on the 'vibecode this for me' button". 🤡
Do I happen to know anyone frequently riding Tokyu lines (whose train fares aren't covered by their employer).
