@timbray@cosocial.ca Honestly, just close your borders to the US and stop exporting anything there. Don’t do business with a rogue fascist state. #usa #canada

@xs4me2@mastodon.social @augieray@mastodon.social Historically there has been only one way to get rid of a fascist dictator. Mussolini, Hitler, Ceausescu,… Unfortunately Americans lack to courage to do what would be necessary to restore democracy.
@stroughtonsmith Very welcome! Some of the best TV shows I have seen in 2023 were on ARTE @arte

@epixoip@infosec.exchange @sc00bz@infosec.exchange I guess one of the most used password managers is iCloud keychain. Apple has tipped the balance towards security and away from easy UX with every OS update for a few years, to the point my parents don‘t really understand it anymore. Apple strongly encourages but doesn’t enforce long and strong passwords. What are your thoughts about it?

@ironicbadger Honestly, tell me one piece of Linux image editor that even comes near to Pixelmator in speed, code quality, user friendliness for complex actions or interface thoughtfulness. It is a joy to use or even just to look at. Linux software is mostly meh and often a real pain to use and look at. Linux is great for servers, not for normal users.
The reason for rising antisemitism all over the world is the impunity with which Israeli terrorise and kill Palestinian civilians, children and teachers, doctors, women, journalists,…
They act exactly like Nazi soldiers acted in the Ghettos. History is repeating itself and Israeli are now the ones future generations will despise.

What feels like a thousand times Microsoft #Authenticator this year alone. 🤬🤬🤬
Why don't you just die, #Microsoft? You software is buggy, your services suck, you have no taste or respect for privacy and you just stink! #rant
#Trump went in two weeks from “Iran must open the strait of Hormuz” to “I don’t care wether it’s open or closed” to “We will blockade the strait if Hormuz”.
The #USA have elected a demented idiot as president. Now they have lost every friend they ever had (but they won Russia and Belarus as friends, hooray 👍) and have become diplomatically irrelevant in this world.
And he said the pope was “weak on crime and nuclear” just to demonstrate he is a total nincompoop. 🤣
Great job 👏

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Honestly, it‘s kind of fascinating that Windows still has a crash screen. Macs had the kernel panic screen. I don’t know whether it still exists, because it’s been at least 15 years since one of my Macs had a hard crash. Stable systems don’t need a BSOD.

@0xabad1dea@infosec.exchange Well, then the reason is probably that not one of my Macs has failed for more than a decade.

@Gargron@mastodon.social It‘s fun to read all the answers here from nerds who hate Apple for reasons 99% of normal users wouldn‘t care a second about. Rants from people who value customization over usability, over design, over privacy and over security. You may know how to make your Android phone secure and private, but my parents (and most everybody else I know) sure as hell don‘t and never will.

@Gargron@mastodon.social Custamization vs. Usability *is* a dichotomy. It's the same problem as Security vs. Usability. And it's a problem iOS has too, as it has piled up hundreds of customization and security features over the years. It is still much more useable and intuitive than Android. And even so I'm regularly helping friends and family to make sense of it. Software engineers and nerds often have not an ounce of understanding for normal users needs.

@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net Du bist nicht machtlos. Die Entscheidungen werden von denen getroffen, die politisch aktiv sind, nicht von denen, die sich in social media-posts darüber ärgern, wie sie gemacht wird.
Engagiere dich, lass dich wählen, mach Politik. Ich mache das seit 2003, zehn Jahre davon im kommunalen Parlament, und kann es nur empfehlen.

@ping13@swiss.social Very inspiring piece of artful storytelling. IMHO he is absolutely right that AI will not make traditional art and artists obsolete. Photography didn’t, even though quite the same arguments were made about it in the 19th century that we hear about AI art today. Then as today art didn’t die. It became more inspired and more interesting. Photography made impressionism, cubism and surrealism possible. AI will do the same to today’s art.
