@dansup No doubt, but Meta’s move toward ActivityPub still seems like a positive step (though we shouldn’t forget all the harm Meta represents). Ideally, in my view, all social networks should use ActivityPub, just as all email uses the SMTP protocol.

@Gargron LLMs are not exclusively a product of large corporations or just marketing. Much of the research and development also takes place in open source and academic communities. The codes for these LLMs are public and can be audited or run locally. Furthermore, I argue that serious ethical reflection is necessary, but prohibition is not the way forward.

@fediversereport Maintaining a server for a single user on the Fediverse is extremely cost-effective, since it can be hosted on any shared hosting service, just like a personal website. The same cannot be said for atprotocol: there are no cheap and easy ways to have a truly decentralized system. That is why I still see a future for the #Fediverse.

De plus, héberger ma propre instance sur le Fediverse relève moins d'un choix technique que d'un acte politique: affirmer que la présence numérique peut être autonome et ne pas se réduire à la logique de l'attention et des marchés.
