"Browsers" like ChatGPT Atlas aren’t progress, they’re a threat to the open web. Instead of improving how we explore, they replace real browsing with corporate-controlled summaries and privacy risks. The web was built on user control and transparency, but AI browsers undermine these values, turning your activity into data for surveillance capitalism. We don’t need AI to "simplify" the web, we need to protect it. The internet belongs to all of us. Let’s keep it that way.

#Mastodon and #Bluesky are constantly growing. Decentralized social networks are here to stay. What is even more exciting about this, is that an increasing number of developers build lovely apps to interact with those decentralized social networks. I wrote a post in which I gathered a variety of them, from client, scheduling apps, to apps that help you discover folks on Mastodon while browsing the web.
Note-taking does not have to be complicated, messy, and system-driven, it should be smart, seamless, simple, and fun. @popt@mastodon.social is an iOS app that auto-tags contacts, places, and dates, making notes fast, fun, and effortless, since you shouldn't have to worry about creating a bunch of backlinks, connections, numerous folders in order to get the most out of your note-taking practice.

I am not the first to tell you that, but you do not need Google Analytics. There are loads of privacy-focused, ethical, and sustainable alternatives, which respect your visitors' privacy. I gathered a bunch of them in a single blog post, so you get a better overview of some of the options available out there.
#Perplexity, the AI startup that plagiarized, dodged paywalls, ignored robots.txt, and shattered the foundations of trust of the web, announced its own browser. Based on Perplexity's past and its CEO's behaviors, looking ahead I try to prepare myself for the worst.

Why do we write differently for the public than we do for friends? Online, we often trade authenticity for polish, yet the most memorable, engaging writing feels like a conversation, not a performance. What if we wrote for the public the way we write to those we trust? Imperfect, personal, and real. The internet needs more of that.
