@tg@indieweb.social I’m in cleaning my optics! Very cool web app, even picked up my remote rural place name

@bilko@mcr.wtf That’s gorgeous, is that what we call Hen and Chicks? I have one here in Saskatchewan that is rising up too, but not quite as beautiful of flowers.

How could I be “looking” for a tool I have been using daily since like 2001?
I’m late to everything, finally watched Project Hail Mary and found it even more moving than all the praise.

@sundogplanets What if you able to create some kind of citizen science app for reporting junk with a photo and geolocation, like https://www.aurorasaurus.org/
Maybe it’s SpaceJunkasaurus? Offer prizes or status for confirmed finds?

Worth mentioning they never wrecked their public API, allowing amateurs like me to create my own tools/sites. And so early they were with tags when we swooned over "folksonomy". There's an almost infinite spiral of niche interest groups (e.g. for rusty mailboxes? Vegefitti?).
Note: Flickr Commons long preceded SmugMug
Ewww, a registration only zoom webinar I ran today got sleazily copied by Webinar.tv as a "podcast"- I was notified by them before I even got the notification from zoom of my recording.
Sarah Blair claimed she "reviewed" the video. Hah.
As reported in @404mediaco@mastodon.social https://www.404media.co/this-company-is-secretly-turning-your-zoom-calls-into-ai-podcasts/
I did zap it with the remove link, but saved their summary video for amusement.
Will Sarah explain?

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social It’s the Tropics of Saskatchewan! The trees and wildflowers are ecstatic.
I have to rummage to find one of those sticks with the portable roof that pops you can carry to not get as wet.

@csaetre Thanks, that paper is well worth a read! And it is generously provided by the publisher as open access.
It aligns too with the research by Zongker (2007) https://isotropic.org/papers/chicken.pdf
Sweet! I get 8 whole tracks of sound?

Fediverse help call. Our non profit org’s Mastodon account is on server of project that went under, the maintainer has server running but let domain lapse (I can connect with IP address added to my hosts file). I have downloaded follows and lists, as well as full archive.
If I cant convince to renew domain, can wemigrate. Advice for moving? And where? Paging @stefan@stefanbohacek.online @FediTips@social.growyourown.services
Oh its a rich day for glorious random public domain images from the Flickr Commons.
Look,! It was Women who built the Time Tunnel!

@jonathan_worth@mastodon.social @pluralistic@mamot.fr Yea! The false chase of efficiency has a deep cost. “The Notes Were Not Mine” could also be a learner’s insight.

Oh no! The dog chewed my SIM card. Hopeless?

@sundogplanets @Mikal @jeremy It's neat to see interest. My building chops and knowledge of space debris are both low. The original ideas was for kids or citizens to learn about identifying debris.
Maybe something with reference info, and a means to upload a photo with location data. Then upvoting/downvoting with comments. Is this Space Junk or Not? Most will be not, but point would be to learn.
Maybe an LLM trained on confirmed debris to compare? From sources like https://pauldmaley.com/sd1/

@kate a bit sounds like a brilliant early piece from ages and bird places ago about generation social proprioception via small glancing interactions. It might not be the same as the megaphones are much bigger than they used to be.
But listening/sending feels right.
