@parismarx Apple seems to me to have been 2 companies so far. Same venue but diff crowds. Jobs's customers were users, Cook's were shareholders. Ternus will have the chance to choose an audience of his own. Don't even know what to hope it might be. 😬

@parismarx@mastodon.online Honestly, I want to slow development specifically, as well as regulate. It's not clear this approach to the tech can be anything worthwhile but whatever real use it might be needs solid foundations and corners are always cut during manic periods like this. Slow down and take a breath.

@Funcan @GeePawHill Huge proportion of mental health issues are exacerbated, where they're not caused, by poverty. Ensuring even basic healthcare without adding more financial stress is a big deal.

@GeePawHill And a great deal of mental illness, too.

@pluralistic@mamot.fr @ricci@discuss.systems Ugh. How awful and unsurprising.

@thomasfuchs@hachyderm.io By "it's inevitable" they mean "don't fight back." But I don't like being told what to do, me.

@whitequark@social.treehouse.systems Hurrah! Happy for you. 🎉

@MelissaBearTrix Permanent removal is also an option. Can save a lot of grief for athletes and movement artists, as well as those prone to ingrown hairs and whatnot.

@bardnet@icosahedron.website @shanselman@hachyderm.io Go and see if "moody lighting" helps. 😹

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social Musk is such a tragic character, he'd've been desperate to go to these even just to fit in. At this point, I'm not even sure he can have his own depravities.

@alexanderadam@ruby.social Awesome! 😹

@DrewKadel@social.coop ChatGPT is basically a "Yes, and..." machine, improvising enough to keep the bit flowing. 😹

@orion@hci.social Awesome. I don't know rust but breaking out subtrees, with or without styling, to apply elsewhere has always been of interest to me. Very cool.

@Gargron Zippered hoodies are most practical!

@orci I'm SO intrigued by Pokopia. I've only got Animal Crossing and tbh, the capitalism is just too much for me these days. Mind you, I don't have a Switch 2 but def someday!

@parismarx@mastodon.online getting mighty tired of government reps crowing about "deals." 😬

@headius@mastodon.social Still can't use JVM on ios. Free the platforms and we'd have more options! Sigh.

@legind@mastodon.social @Natanox@chaos.social @micahflee@infosec.exchange @billseitz@toolsforthought.social Genuinely good for a lot of text work, would you say? (I have to spend a lot of the day lying on my back. Input's another problem but trying to position monitors well is tough).

@legind@mastodon.social @Natanox@chaos.social @micahflee@infosec.exchange @billseitz@toolsforthought.social Ah, that's good to hear! I've been hoping this next round of headsets might finally work for text. Pricey for me, of course, but pretty mid for headsets, it seems. Thanks very much!

@billseitz@toolsforthought.social @mhoye@mastodon.social I assume they still do, tho I suspect they're too ossified to pull it off now (small mercy).
