@cstross@wandering.shop Far too much faith is placed in ai for images. How on earth did we get to the point where people assume ai knows how bodies or clocks or indeed any devices move or work. It's only harvesting images, using recognisable sets of pixels in proximity to other pixels. The real surprise is how ai gets any image vaguely correct in the end, even with chance, but yet people are blindly assuming it knows everything about the content of the images it steals.

@grammasaurus @mrundkvist Well that's a little over twice the price but consider how much it will cost you for oxygen tanks in the future when the air becomes too toxic to breath for more than five minutes. I'd reckon it would work out more than $1300 and for a lot less time too. There will come a time when we won't have the choice.

Random pools of filth coalesced, however, making it impossible to filter out the slime as I once did. I stayed much longer than I should have, but when the blue bird was caged, that was it, but it was no idyll, even in the early days.

@maria @grammasaurus @mrundkvist Well it is a choice. A choice to not travel at all or if one has to, to save just a little bit of air quality. For some the choice is taken out of their hands entirely as they cannot afford either. Consider the dearer ticket an investment in future stock, that is until they offer more affordable rail options.

@maria @grammasaurus @mrundkvist I suppose it comes down to travel, is it a right or privilege? One person travelling on a jet wouldn't make that much difference to life expectancy in the long run, but a plane full might. Like the carbon footprint labelling, I think it would be cool to see a simulation of what change one decision made on their own life expectancy. That is would they choose the cheaper ticket knowing that a small portion of their life is part of the saving.

I'm not sure that a lot of thought went into it tbh.
