Open post Avery Vine @averyvine@mastodon.social · 10mo ago Replying to @agiletortoise__dup_1676@mastodon.social For the last year I’ve been picking away at supporting TextKit2 in @drafts@indieapps.space editor…while still supporting TextKit1 and backward compatibility. The project likely would have gone faster if I was clear what I was gaining, other than “full” Writing Tools support, and, though I haven’t tested enough myself, I’m pretty sure I’m going to have to ship with a “use legacy editor” mode for people who run into the edge cases TextKit2 still doesn’t handle well. Doesn’t instill a lot of confidence… @agiletortoise@mastodon.social @drafts@indieapps.space one benefit is that TextKit 2 handles rendering Indic scripts like Kannada *a lot* more gracefully!

Open post Avery Vine @averyvine@mastodon.social · 16mo ago Replying to @CorvidCrone@kolektiva.social @averyvine@mastodon.social @MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social This list is missing the one that pops up for me all the time: my last name has a space and two capital letters. No dash. Yes both words are, together, my single last name. Neither is my middle name, or first name. The IRS cares about the space*. I care about the space. It's my space. Yes, the space affects pronunciation. No, it's not hard to pronounce in most languages. It's phonetic. Humans have no issues with spelling or reading my name but computers are too often baffled *There is a whole story here @CorvidCrone@kolektiva.social @MuseumShuffle@mastodon.social I feel for you 😓 getting names right is so important, must be frustrating to have to deal with that all the time
