Starting my new project HERO (HEterozygous expRession of insulin in NannOchloropsis) at Carnegie Institute of Science, Pasadena Campus (at CalTech).

In this Marie Sklodowska-Curie Global Fellowship, I will try to establish microalgae as an alternate expression vehicle for sustainable and affordable insulin.

We should keep a list of companies that have fired employees en masse to replace them with #AI . When the #aibubble bursts, these slop-stricken corpos are going to come begging for human talent once again.

Each time they post a "job opportunity" on LinkedIn, someone can post the number of employees they previously fired.

At my current place, the librarian is great, but can't help beyond a point. We have good inter-library loan services, but it's this hoop-jumping that is beginning to annoy me.

I really hope the commission's idea of regaining sovereignty is through the adoption of #libresoftware (GPL licenses), and not a simple pivot from a US proprietary software to EU ones.

It's just that just "Open Source" absolutely doesn't cut it. Software *HAS* to be free/libre to prevent corporations from hijacking the project / infrastructure.
