Spent about a day carefully reading the docs, and taking notes, on systemd-nspawn and about five minutes downloading a minimal #Debian install and running a single command to get a lightweight container running. Lots of security sandboxing features available.

@darth more like "what didn't they do?" they've let the server software fall behind updates and are now vulnerable, they have apparently been performing no moderation for at least a year and with open registrations have been inundated with bots.

@mike I am doubtful that many instances, that participate in active moderation, will *not* follow suit.
I am guessing that people more clever than I have already considered/implemented some sort of subnetting of UIDs/GIDs, to support formalised groups of the identifiers in cases where a system is running containers etc.

@srtcd424 yes and no I think, that seems to operate on simple integer ranges whereas the subnet concept helps expose grouping of stuff. It's a bit easier to visualise and manage an IP range using CIDR than to work on simple ranges using tuples.
