Ok, so, we all know skyfish, right? They are famous cryptids that are particularly popular in Japanese occult circles, and are more commonly known as "rods" in English.

According to the OFFICIAL history, they were first discovered in Roswell, New Mexico in 1994 by a guy who was definitely not filming insects flying past his camera at night.

Today was my last day at work. Getting out of the tech industry for now, it's not a good place to be right now. I am extremely lucky to have gathered up enough money to not have to think about finding another job right away. Will have a lot more time to spend with my partner and on my own projects now, though.

@davidgerard@circumstances.run I think the thing you slightly missed there about Claude and friends is that nowadays they DO actually work, a lot of the time. They can produce quite reasonable code now. But if anything, that makes them MORE dangerous. Because they don't ALWAYS do. But they do so often enough that people absolutely let their guard down, and stop reading what they output. Because, as you say, you grow tired of that really quick. And if it is good most of the time, even more so.

@mcc@mastodon.social I think what I have learned about making actually portable software like that is that it's kind of easier to build your own native platform interface layer for each platform following the expected way to build it. It LOOKS like more work, but it ends up being less of a pain in the end.

I don't think I've seen a less usable API than #swiftui's keyframeAnimator. This is meant to be a really powerful animation API, but due to some really, really weird choices in how it actually works, I can NOT figure out a way to actually do ANYTHING useful with it. Or, when I do manage to, the code is incredibly ugly and awkward.

What went wrong here.

The bootloader will compare the version loaded with the fuses and reject it if it is older than what the fuses say. It's not downgrading that burns fuses, it's upgrading.
