Especially in tech, the brain worms have burrowed deep in that industry. We need some nonprofit or cooperative cloud services that exist and run for the users and not just to inflate the ego of some empty suit.

Huge money shoved Trump into the White House and shielded him from accountability at every turn. There are the same dangerous right wing movements in most countries, just waiting for their moment. They are well funded and relentless.

@Daojoan Our entire culture has been hollowed out by this thinking. And not just by fly-by-night dropshippers- people with MBAs from prestigious schools. This notion that nothing matters but the bottom line, and delivering as little as legally allowable is the correct and smart thing to do. The result is a negative feedback loop where the only thing that can compete is the shittiest thing. It's a race to the bottom and we all lose.

@libreoffice @tdforg Meritocracy is one of those situations that sound noble, but are meaningless without definition and discussion with the whole organization. At worst it is just in-group supremacy. At best it is a way for the org as a whole to put decision making in trustworthy people.

@Daojoan No. The worst thing the internet did to reading was shortening ideas to the length of a social media post. You are in rarefied circles if the people you a surrounded by are competitively reading. The people I'm around brag, BRAG, about how few books they've read. Social posts from other semiliterates is high literature to these- and most- folks.
