Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone. Happy Saturday. I hope the weekend ahead will be kind to you. Meggie & Laurie send luv & purrs to you all and wish you the very best of Caturdays. Meggie has finally been freed from her plastic cone, and been allowed to go out. She says two weeks was far too long to be confined to quarters. Here she is celebrating by being on 'her' outside windowsill, and also snuggling up on our bed with her favourite toy. She also made a point of skipping around the house and presenting us with a huge dead spider (we don't think she intended to harm it). Talking of huge spiders, the count so far this year (finding & evicting) is up to 17, which seems quite high for this stage in the season, with at least another month to go. I will be very glad when 'spider season' is over. This year they have been enormous, but at least with Meggie back on duty I know there won't be any under the bed! #Caturday #CatsOfMastodon

I glanced out of the window this evening and saw this handsome squirrel drinking out of the bowl of water that we leave out for wildlife. It was a ‘grab shot’ through the window & he had gone before I could get a better angle. It’s nice to know that squirrels are back again - we hadn’t seen them for several months. #Nature #Wildlife #Squirrel

@kimlockhartga@beige.party There was one dog I would have been tempted to clone, once…. But then I asked myself which of my others would I choose to ‘not have had’ in order to have her back again, and realised I wouldn’t want to part with any of them. I treasure the memories of the time that I had with all of them.

@Son_of_a_George@thecanadian.social It’s so sad. When her time comes this lady will be missed far more, & by more people, than she would ever realise. I hope she might make it for a few more years, but the odds are not looking good atm. I don’t make friends easily (especially since I moved here, although the locals are lovely) & value those I have very highly. I have unfortunately already reached ‘that certain age’ that you mention.

@elliek@zeroes.ca Wow! What a lovely photo , & a lovely story to go along with it. He was very handsome & I love his expression here. 😻

@elliek@zeroes.ca I can see, just from his expression, that he was stuffed full of purrsonality.

@oldrawgabbit@mastodon.world So scared I want to fight back with cuddles. That is an adorable kitty.

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social Hugs.

Good afternoon/evening everyone. Hugs all round. I hope your weekend is being kind to you. A late Caturday post this week - being another very hot day hubby decided we must pile into the car & go to the nursery we found a few weeks ago. Hot was an understatement, but we found 4 lovely plants (we only went in for 1, to fill a gap) . We met a beautiful long haired GSD & a little terrier while we were there. Talking to dogs always makes my day. Meggie & Laurie send luv & purrs to you all, and to your pets. We haven't seen a lot of them this week as Meggie has been sleeping in the bathtub every day, & Laurie has been lurking invisibly under the hedges. Today, Laurie decided to be a little over-dramatic in front of the car. He's a good actor. #Caturday #CatsOfMastodon

@Sharonbw@mastodon.online Thank you so much.

Nothing is ever simple. This morning, we opened up our porch doors to let delivery men have easy access…. Then discovered that they wouldn’t close again. Hubby went to his laptop to look up the phone number of the company who fitted the doors, to arrange a repair, and his laptop promptly failed. It’s working now, but is probably a sign that he should start looking for a replacement. The item delivered - a dryer (the old one was 14 & no longer efficient) fits well in the small space available , but our existing drainage pipe isn’t wide enough to accommodate both washer & dryer hoses, so a plumber is required to widen it (there is a drainage tray, but the hose will be more practical). And we need to buy a vent cover, as our vent is now redundant & I don’t like open holes in the wall, which would let spiders in. I am grateful that it wasn’t a lot worse, & it keeps life interesting. Tomorrow I will be clothes shopping, which I hate! Lucky me.

@oldrawgabbit@mastodon.world 😿

I see that Jodrell Bank has lost its funding. I hope someone steps forwatd to keep it going. It would be a tragedy if it had to close. Expanding our knowledge is so valuable, even if the benefits are not immediately visible. I’m glad we went there earlier this year, as I had always wanted to see it.

@TwoClownsEating@beige.party Congratulations on the new arrival, & Happy Birthday to both. Enjoy the shopping!

@StarkRG@myside-yourside.net They are blessed with magical powers.

@JugglingWithEggs@mstdn.social That’s sad. She was one of the greats.

@StaceyCornelius@zeroes.ca They are beautiful toes, aren’t they?

@kateiacy@universeodon.com Thank you. Sometimes I think I am too bonded to him, I cant bear the thought of anything happening to him.

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party Football doesn’t interest me. I will be glad when this match (& the WC) is over.

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party 🤣 Hubby is watching. I am waiting up for Laurie to come in - he’s having another late night.

Good morning everyone. The clouds are gathering here & we are hoping there might actually be a little rain. The ground needs it. This morning started with a tiny mouse, lying on the garden path. It wasn’t moving at all, so I assumed it had passed & I picked it up to clear it away. Then I saw its little heart was pounding (poor thing was too scared/exhausted to run or wriggle), so my next thought was how to help. We have a ‘wild corner’ in the garden, with lots of undergrowth where a tiny mouse should be safe, so I took it there. I paused at the water bowl we leave out for the wildlife and dipped my finger in, collecting a droplet of water to drip on the side of little mouse’s mouth, in case it was thirsty. It reached up & held my finger with its paws while it drank. So very endearing! I put it under some leaves in the wild corner, & found a saucer to fill with water & leave nearby. I hope tiny mouse survives & find its way safely back home.

@carrottop1023@mastodon.stickbear.me Thank you.

@Devonkiwi@mastodonapp.uk It’s lovely when wildlife interacts with us, isn’t it?

@ravensrod@mstdn.social

It’s getting a tad warm outside. We have a planned evening out watching Shakespeare this week. It’s an outdoor event, so I hope it doesn’t get cancelled bc of heat related health-risks. So far the forecast looks warm but manageable (24-25° C in the evening) but it changes fast. We have containers of water around the garden for the wildlife, but going around behind the house (the coolest area) I just found a thoroughly cooked toad. Poor little thing 😿 . I need to put more water bowls out.

I’ve had sad news that one of my oldest & dearest friends (we’ve been friends for over 40yrs) has been diagnosed with a serious illness & is in hospital. We don’t live nearby, so it’s some years since we last met up, but we stay in touch via internet & phone. We both have a weird sense of humour & appreciate each other’s strange mental excursions/diversions. She has a heart of gold & doesn’t deserve to suffer. I won’t name her, for her privacy, but I know she would appreciate any positive vibes or prayers you can put ‘out there’ for her.

@cat_news@mas.to Megs & Laurie say ‘Happy Purrthday Pippin’.

@Thebratdragon@mastodon.scot I’m glad he turned up ok, & I hope that your week ahead will turn out ok.

Goodnight everyone. We actually have both cats in at a reasonable time tonight, so I will try to catch up on my sleep a bit. Hubby is watching the match. Hopefully Laurie-cat might come up with me & sleep on my feet.

Laurie-cat’s bestie just came to call for him. He couldn’t get attention so he tried to climb in through the open window. He is a very big (& strikingly handsome) cat - I used to think he might be part Bengal, but his human says he is part Norwegian Forest cat. He easily reached up to the open window while still keeping his back paws on the windowsill. By the time I grabbed my camera, hubby had shooed him away from the window, being concerned he might actually get in. Disappointing- it would have been a fun photo. Anyway, he was out of luck - Laurie wasn’t home. He’s back now, but he missed his friend by a few minutes.

@HowardGees@mastodonapp.uk Yours too? When ours went off I said to hubby there must be too many people watching the game. I was only half joking!

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party Congrats xxx

@NorcalGma2@sfba.social It’s hard to explain things to our pets. I hope her pal makes a good recovery.

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party I love a purring kitty. Our Laurie purrs loudest when he wants something. Meggie has a very quiet purr - we have to listen hard.

Good morning/afternoon/evening everyone. Happy Saturday. I hope your weekend will be kind to you. Meggie & Laurie send luv and purrs to you all and wish you a very enjoyable Caturday. It's been another warm and sunny week and the furbabes have spent much of it outside, under hedges and plants where we can't see them. Meggie eventually condescended to come out onto the lawn and play for a few minutes. She found a feather, but wasn't letting me photograph her playing with it. #Caturday #CatsOMastodon

@ravensrod@mstdn.social I hope so.

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party I wish it was here! The ground really needs it!

@FaithfullJohn@mastodon.scot Thank you for the follow..

@kateiacy@universeodon.com I was with my dogs, too. Cats are a bit less dependent, but I have always known I was deeply bonded with Laurie . The thought that something may have happened to him is physically painful.

In the Spring, hubby planted a variety of bulbs on our 'back bank', in front of a conifer hedge. He forgot to put labels in next to the bulbs, so we are having to rely on the Internet for id. This is the first of them to flower, and seems to be Tigridia Pavonia. It's a very beautiful, (large) red flower, just one flower per day. I like it, but would find it more impressive if several were flowering together.... #Bloomscrolling

@ravensrod@mstdn.social

We had a lovely evening on Saturday , watching the very talented ‘Festival Players International’. performing A Comedy of Errors. They found a nice shady field to perform in so nobody got baked. And they did not disappoint! This was possibly the best we have seen from them. I am always amazed & impressed how so few actors ( a very small troupe of 5) manage to remember all the lines for so many characters. And the costumes are brilliant. Sadly I have managed to delete most of my photos from the evening.😞 Here are a few photos that managed to survive my mistaken deletion.

@sinituulia@eldritch.cafe He is more than gorgeous! 😻

@snaprails@cupoftea.social 😺 They are very tuneful.

@kentishfran@mastodonapp.uk Like all bullies he doesn’t like it when his chosen victims stand up to him.

The bellringers at the village church are having a practice session tonight. They must be integrating a new member into the team. I love hearing church bells in the evenings. 😺

@kevbob@xoxo.zone A purrfect fit.

@Thatmermaid_J@beige.party Your Nanna is very lucky to be loved so much.
