I ran on the campus of the #KennedyCenter today. There is no “heavy construction fencing around the building.” I’m not sure what the New York Times is talking about here. There are bike racks, and some plastic. I ran from The Reach to the Watergate. I had run by the water side on my way over, so I saw the entire exterior of the building.

Well, good news: they asked my question on the show. Bad news, they answered my question on the show. #theforkiverse is going away per @Casey@theforkiverse.com Can someone suggest another instance to jump to?

In 1988, we were the entertainment at the #WhiteHouse for President #Reagan’s last Congressional picnic. Video of this event has apparently been sitting on YouTube for 38 years. I tripped over it this past weekend. Here’s the link: https://youtu.be/VJ_91w7a_ZM?si=42JN7Yy1cEKz9VRb

This is from a company picnic for an Iron Ore shipping company in Two Harbors, MN. I don’t know a lot about that time in this place, but I don’t think these people are having a very good time.

An article in Military Times says sailors are trying to jump overboard from the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Persian Gulf.

I was out for a #run this morning and I went past load-in for the #DC State Fair. It’s on a traffic triangle in front of the Convention Center. For the prize animal tent, I’m guessing terriers or rats. That’s the only animal life I ever see downtown. https://www.dcstatefair.org

@vicgrinberg@mastodon.social @quixoticgeek@social.v.st There was nothing more fun than watching Dr. Roman muscle her way through the National Air And Space Museum in time to catch a bus. Just this tiny, little 90 year-old woman zipping past 7000 tourists to get where she was going.

You might hear tomorrow about the Phillies almost turning a triple play. I’ve watched this replay 5 times; the second baseman never touched second base. They shouldn’t have gotten credit for the second out.

In India, it's Hindus over Muslims. In Congo, it's Bantu over Kongo, Luba, and Mongo. In Rwanda, it's Tutsi over Hutu, except when it's Hutu over Tutsi. As with the countries you mentioned, “those shared contradictions shape how each county understands security, territory and political control.” (2/2)

I have a theory about the motivation behind Trump‘s language in the run-up to yesterday‘s deadline with Iran. I am old enough to remember the rhetoric coming out of Cairo, Amman, Damascus, and elsewhere before and during the 1967 & 1973 wars between Israel and its neighbors. I can imagine Netanyahu telling Trump about these threats, and specifically the vividness of their imagery (rivers will run with blood, etc.). Those are the kind of stories that grab Trump‘s attention. (1/2)

@Brian_Mahoney@mas.to He didn’t make it into the ballroom. He was captured in the lobby of the hotel. The event was happening in the ballroom. I know you’re trying to be funny, but he hit the person he shot. Fortunately that person was wearing a bulletproof vest.

@Deglassco @blueorchestra The Chinese and Israeli Embassies are right next to each other on Van Ness St. in DC. When the Chinese emptied out Xinjiang of Uyghurs and replaced them with Han Chinese, I didn’t see one protester out front chanting. That’s also why comparison matters.

@blueorchestra All of these countries have the same thing in common: they are made up of humans. I cited these specific countries because they were all founded as pluralistic, democratic nations (which fit with the narrative of the original post). I could’ve picked Germany, I could’ve picked Argentina, I certainly could’ve picked Japan. I could have picked Australia. I could go on.

@Tattered 1. Yes, because the history of that region began in 1930. I cannot begin to educate you on this history, because you are always right. So we’ll leave it there. You’re right. That’s what you wanted me to say, right? So I’ll say it. You’re right. You’re always right. 2. I am also a scholar of racism. Please don’t lecture me.
