My dad used to hang a goat bell from his handlebar that made a constant tinkle. It wasn't unpleasant per se, but Jesus, if I was walking along next to him for a while it really grated.

@Troggie I had 3 in series. First one in, I was given valium to take an hour before, and local anaesthetic. The local was the only bit with any pain.
Second one was a different doc, I was only given numbing cream. We had to stop because, after the mild pain of the removal, my cervix was clamped so tight that she could barely find it. A week later, it was back to the first doc and it was easy.
Third time, I made sure I got the first doc again!
