If anyone on here is in #Ontario, can access the Ontario Library Service Consortium (so small town libraries) and prefers #audiobooks to reading, books 1-3 of the #GameChangers series (aka #HeatedRivalry) have unlimited copies available right now.

I considered getting the #ToughGuy audiobook but Tor Thom’s voice is a bit too low and rumbly for me.

It's a new week! Question for all of my #ADHD, #Autistic and #AuDHD folks out there: what do you think will be your fixation food for the week?

Last week, mine was pizza. Very specifically, the Ottawa Valley style with enough cheese to kill a person.

The week before, it was burgers. I batch made burgers and ended up eating them eight times through that week.

I think I have shaken off the pizza itch finally, and all I can hope is that this week's is something I can make at home.

There is a bird somewhere near my house that sounds very similar to a crosswalk signal, and it was both very distracting and hilarious. Luckily, it’s clearly NOT the crosswalk sound in terms of pattern, but the chirp is unmistakable.

I loved the #Oscars2026 this year. I cried three times; once from sadness, twice from joy. Seeing Golden performed in front of the biggest movie celebs in Hollywood, waving their lightsticks to the beat, and then seeing EJae win Best Original Song after knowing her whole back story… 🥹 it’s really emotional for me. When I moved home from South Korea, I felt like I couldn’t talk about the music and culture that had kept me overseas for three years, because nobody cared about kpop then.

But then that ending with the Mr Beast reference… did anyone else interpret that as really dark humour and very much a critique of what they saw for the future?

@onni@troet.cafe I can’t speak for the whole community but from what I’ve seen, there is a massive amount of appreciation in the show because it shows that autism IS a spectrum and people with autism are people who want the same thing as everyone else: community, love and respect. I haven’t seen the show myself because I won’t pay for Netflix but I’d like to watch it one day.

I love Japan, but even now, over 15 years since I lived there, I still get TRIGGERED when I think of this sentence:

“We HaVe FoUr DiStInCt SeAsOnS~~”

Don’t even talk to me about “distinct seasons”. SOME parts of Japan get a distinct winter, but most Canadians look at the seasons and laugh because their winter is envious.

In the span of 12 months in my area of Canada, our temperatures will range from -40° to 40°c. Hell, even this week, it was 30° feeling like 36° but tonight we have a frost warning and I’m using an electric blanket because I refuse to put the heater on again.

I have been in the queue to book a #TokyoDisneyResort package for a client for over two hours so far and I only just got to the point where it's no longer telling me it's "over an hour”. I still have a 50 minute wait, but this is ridiculous. I know that the insane wait time is because someone on a FB group said the package rates for October will drop today and 99% of the people attempting to book don't speak Japanese and find the website confusing so their reservations are timing out.

As a Japanese speaking #TravelAgent, I wish that the Oriental Land Company would open up travel agent access for a few international travel agents. Not only would it be great to start earning commission on these bookings, but the direct access would mean I could bypass this insane wait for clients. If I thought that OLC would actually consider it, I'd write them a formal letter, but I know #Japanese companies well enough to know that they won't change the system unless it breaks completely. #Japan #Disney

@TheManyVoices@mastodon.social I remember watching Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls and being inconsolable after the raccoon dies in the first 10 minutes of the movie. I know I did finish the movie but I mostly remember crying at the beginning. A lot. So I understand this completely.

Hot take: As a #millennial, I did NOT spend my entire childhood and young adult existence being chastised by #Boomers about how I’m ruining society and destroying entire economic systems by eating avocado toast just for #GenZ and #GenAlpha to pick up the baton and tell me I’m lame and awkward for being an insecure people pleaser.

Come on, just give us some time to either relax a bit or actually turn the tables on the young idiots.

@KatDawson_Narrator@mastodon.social that would have done it for me if I made it that far. I personally like more intonation for audiobooks. Speaking in a slightly higher register would allow him to go lower for the sexier dialogue to give it impact

Some people do big conspiracy theories, but I prefer low key Canadian conspiracies. Here’s my #CanadianConspiracy of the day:

There is no way that #RyanReynolds #TimHortons doughnut campaign and #RyanGosling’s movie release being the same weekend is a coincidence. I love Reynolds, but him and his wife have a tendency to do sus shit, and this is the kind of innocent “who, me?” attention grabbing that Reynolds is REALLY good at.

I somehow managed to read 4 books in February. Considering I’ve read maybe 2 books from 2015-2025, this is crazy in a good way. I’m having trouble picking my next read though. In February, I read Sunrise on the Reaping, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, The Marrow Thieves and The Grace Year. All of them are YA dystopian novels. I’m also reading Chop Suey Nation as my non-fiction lighter reading. I’ve got a few options for my next book. I’m hoping I can finish one before my next Libby hold is available.

My options are:
🏒 Game Changer by Rachel Reid
🐝 The Duke and I by Julia Quinn
⛪️ The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood
🦯 All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Since I’ve read four dystopian novels back to back, I feel like it might be a good idea to switch it up a little, but at the same time, it’s been my vibe for a month so maybe I should stick with it?

If you’re using Fable and like what I’ve read so far, add me!

I’m grateful that Reddit has an active enough live discussion to tell me that the long haired guy playing with #MumfordAndSons is #Hozier because I genuinely don’t know who any of these people are but the audience seemed excited. #HudsonWilliams’s shirt looked SO good for the song intro. I’m glad #ConnorStorrie is keeping him around tonight. 😍😍 #SNL #HeatedRivalry

🎶 When I find myself in times of trouble,
And I want to watch TV…🎶

I watch old Canadian Olympic Skating routines. Specifically:

⛸️Share-Lynn Bourne and Victor Kraatz, “Riverdance” Nagano 1998
⛸️ Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, “Moulin Rouge!” Pyeongchang 2018

I almost always feel better after watching those two. But if I need a bit more, some other routines that I’ll sometimes watch include:

⛸️ Jason Brown, “Reel Around the Sun” Sochi 2014
⛸️ Elvis Stojko “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” Lillehammer 1994

I just realized that all of my favourite skating routines are all from movies or stage shows. And in almost every case, they’re routines where they should have ranked MUCH higher but the scoring system was fucked up.

I’m glad I gave myself some time between watching Heated Rivalry and finally watching #Bridgerton S4. I’ve really enjoyed this season, though I don’t appreciate feeling on the brink of tears at the end of each episode.

Also, holy FUCK Katie Leung is good at playing the evil Asian mum. I can see her becoming the next Michelle Yeoh.

Does anyone know if a petition on #OurCommons can be used to ask for #NHL players to be traded? Because I don’t think #BradyTkachuk should think it’s okay to shout “Close the northern border” to the president and still be allowed to be the captain of the #OttawaSenators. You don’t get to be the captain of the capital’s team and hate this country.

Same with #AustinMatthews. He might be an incredible goal scorer but he doesn’t put that effort in when it matters so he can get out. Fuck that guy. The #TorontoMapleLeafs aren’t going to suddenly win the cup because he’s here so we can get rid of him and see almost no difference.

I know that it’s just a force of habit and there’s nothing intentional behind it, but…

I really wish #Twitch #Streamers would stop referring to their audience as “boys”. Like, I get it, you’re acting like we’re all just “one of the boys” while gaming or going on adventures, but… it’s really isolating as a female viewer. There are loads of non-gendered terms to refer to the viewer, pick any of those!! #TwitchStreamers #Livestream

It’s #Brier2026 time and it’s nice to see curling back to being relatively drama free. The QC team just had the craziest moment though where they shattered a fibreglass broom handle and the sweeper went right down. The most impressive thing though? They swept the guy who fell out of the way so he didn’t touch the rock. There was a moment where I thought we’d get a rock touching fight but that fizzled quickly. #curling #curlingCanada

When I was a kid, I didn’t understand why some people liked the “silver fox” type.

#StephenColbert helped me see the light. 😂😂

Now, as an ace person, I don’t know if I completely get it the way the average person does, but if I could meet someone who struck the same balance of intelligence, humour, and nerdy, I’d be a very happy person.

Also, the amount of time it took for me to figure out how to refer to a fandom in #Japanese is almost embarrassing. My Japanese is so rusty, I haven’t been able to actually use it in ages. Should I start translating my posts for practice?

If disappointment had a flavour, it would be the T&T brand teriyaki chicken steamed buns. I LOVE a steamed bun, it tastes like warm happiness. I normally buy the Ten Ten Dim Sum brand, specifically the barbecue pork flavour. But I saw teriyaki chicken was on sale so I picked up a pack of those too. How on earth did they make teriyaki chicken taste like NOTHING?! And it's not like they're cheap – Ten Ten Dim Sum is usually $2 cheaper per pack! I’m lowkey obsessed with this Japanese couple sitting at home plate. They’re not season ticket holders, and I have so many questions. It also reminds me about how much I LOVE Japanese fandom because for older women, there is no price too high or distance too far if they have the means to follow their fandom. She’s clearly a Dodgers fan, but I’m putting money on her being from Japan, not LA. Also, I love that she has. Freeman jersey on a teddy bear. 🧸 #BlueJays #ブルージェイズ #Dodgers #MLB

The fact that they managed to get Connor stripped down to a pair of briefs and made it maybe the least sexy scene possible is an impressive feat for both the #SNL writers and for #ConnorStorrie’s acting. That was awkward but the awkward was funny because the audience was still thirsty. Also, I now need to know what his inner thigh tattoo says. 👀👀

Torpedo Shrimp were on sale at Giant Tiger last week so I decided to make my first #Bento! I bought these cute bento boxes almost 10 years ago but before my bariatric surgery, this was never enough food. Today I made Ebi Fry Bento, with a few torpedo shrimp, a roll of tamagoyaki, some salty edamame, and then rice in the other container. I had the leftovers for breakfast to make sure it all tasted okay and I’m really pleased. The tamagoyaki was shockingly good for the first time making it. I wish I had the lighter soy sauce, so it looks darker than I’d like, but that’s a lesson for next time.

Speaking of #StephenColbert, I highly recommend checking out his post-CBS appearance on public access TV in #Monroe #Michigan. It’s such a perfect example of everything that makes Colbert’s cancellation so heartbreaking. There is no audience, the camera operators are volunteers, and the guests are two nurses who usually host the show, but it’s still CLASSIC Colbert humour and delivery.

YouTube’s algorithm, being all knowing and addictive, fed me a video that I haven’t seen in a while but I have watched a million times before.

I’m sure most women can think back and remember a famous woman that they admired and wanted to be when they were kids/tweens. The video that I was fed reminded me that I didn’t know the name of the woman I idolized. I just knew her as “The lady in Riverdance” aka Jean Butler.

It’s crazy how watching this video brings me back to 1994-1998 era of Rebecca. I would say those four years, from the age of 8-12, have more moments that I still consider core parts of my personality development. The person I was then is the person I am now, more so than any other era in my childhood.
