mastodon 4.8.0-nightly.2026-10-06Audiobook narrator, lover of stories, coffee, and cats. I love all kinds of stories, but my favourites are romance, cozy mystery, urban fantasy, YA, and sci-fi.
How active is Mastodon for authors and narrators? I'm still trying to get a feel for this space. Aside from #bookstodon and #audiobooks, what are other good hashtags to follow? Does anyone post casting calls here? (I've heard that's a big thing on the bird site, but I'm not going back there.)
Please boost for reach!
I'm new to this space and looking for #authors and #narrators to connect with. If that's you, please follow or wave or introduce yourself.

I received the best feedback this morning from an author I'm working with, and oh my heart! The ego boost I desperately needed. ❤️
#authors #narrators #voiceactors
I've looked into joining TikTok to jump on the #booktok bandwagon, and join my peers in doing live reads and connecting with other VAs and authors, but I can't seem to sign up (it won't let me?). And honestly - I don't really want to.
Anyone have success building community and connections using #fediverse alternatives? Any recommendations?
New release day!

I have some room in my schedule at the moment. If anyone is seeking a #voiceactor for their audiobook or other project, big or small, get in touch! #audiobooks #bookstodon
I am very proud to share that my first book is now available on Audible!

As a narrator, I am very versatile, and can bring all kinds of characters to life. I'm especially good at dead pan and sarcasm. No, really.
Young, old, male, female, human, robot, alien... Throw 'em at me!

@DaniSafford I have no idea, lol!
Authors: can you recommend any open source or free/low cost writing tools? I'm looking to try out something that will help me organize and start writing. In particular, I would love to have a tool that I could write out my outline, then easily expand within it and move sections around, drag-and-drop style. Does such a thing exist?

What do goblins sound like? Is there a stereotypical sound for goblins in #LitRPG? #books #bookstodon
Unfortunately, this is a pay to play site, and it's not cheap to participate. The free tier is almost useless, and the paid tier is at least $499 USD/year (for the talent). It's the classic "need $ to make $".
Voice123 at least offers a number of membership options, starting at a much lower rate.
I agree - the industry is in turmoil at the moment, in both directions. I've heard complaints from authors too, overwhelmed with AI submissions from "human actors". https://bsky.brid.gy/r/https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:ttxkeq56hvubnrha24kezy5g/post/3mjk42jsitk2b
