I saw my 13 year old niece texting her friends on her ipad. She went through it quicker and with more facility that I do with my own chat apps, despite her being a third my age.

I notice that one of the images is a photo of a similarly-aged girl giving the middle finger.

I ask her what app this is and she nonchalantly says "oh, its my school's chat app"

I don't trust furries who say they don't like sushi

Three things that are simultaneously true:

- The internet is a Bad place to have formative childhood experiences.

- Our society is giving children vanishingly fewer real life alternatives, because these are expensive and unprofitable in the eyes of people who know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.

- Age verification is some bullshit.

True rest is goalless, non-consumptive, and non-identity forming. True rest resembles or is: sleep, meditation, daydreaming, pondering, exercise, or art.

The reason we are all so burnt out is we habitually use technology thinking that is rest. In truth, that just makes it worse.

I'm a believer in the non-religious, non-mystical, completely secular power of prayer.

It's basically just reminding yourself of how you want to be.
