Pretty sure this has been making the rounds but…I have so, so many questions.
I am within millimeters of this.
The exasperated sigh on opening documentation at work and seeing the start of all the paragraphs and every line of the table of contents start with emojis.
It's the Mark of Shit.
We should stop giving money and power to people who had really fucked up childhoods and never sought resolution through therapy.
*video clips where the person getting severely injured or experiencing intense misfortune yells over and over for the person with the camera to keep recording*
This. This is why living in a remote cabin sounds amazing.
Do...do companies using AI not understand the insane amount of corporate espionage happening through it? They...they do know that all their code and documents and prompts are being ingested, processed, and analyzed against them, right?
Telegram has me cranky, but... stickers.
There's a lot of unmaintained repos of sticker converter bots that will convert Telegram packs to Signal out there. Anyone use one or can suggest a current one?
Do you use Teams and Outlook at work? Does your Outlook show a "Viva Insights" button on the toolbar? For fun, go to the following and browse around:
https://insights.cloud.microsoft.com/#/PersonalApp/Home/
They're tracking:
-How many minutes you spend reading email
-How many minutes you spend composing emails
-Who you talk to most and least frequently in terms of email and meetings
-How many meetings you organize
-How many of those meetings have a high attendance
-How many meetings overlap with others
-How many meetings you actually focused and do not multitask doing other things
-What percentage of meetings you join on time
-How many meetings are of a short duration
-How many minutes you spend chatting with others
-When your core work hours are based on when you are active, when your lunch is, etc
Now, consider how many meetings you are in where CoPilot is turned on and the data it is gathering.
Your employer now has a full profile of what hours you work, what you do, who you talk to, what you talk about, how much you participate, and how "efficient" you are being down to the minute.
The number of times I have to enter my password/2FA to execute a SQL query in production at work has increased today to *six*. To change an env var it can be up to eight. I feel very secure now.
Ah, yes, tree cover. We need to shovel more coal into the machine to figure out where to plant trees to solve these mysterious extreme heat events.
Scorch marks from a lighter on heat shrink is a sign of quality.

These trees are super gross and terribly popular with developers. Nasty.
A proper use of technology.
The realization that I can just answer the question of “what kind of music do you like?” with “whatever excited Beavis and Butt-Head” is somewhat liberating.
@leaf Oh wow -- don't have the face scan thing here. That's not cool.
My process is:
- Log into laptop
- Log into VPN
- Log into password vault to get an admin password
- Use my password and provide a use reason to unlock Ditto (copy-paste tool)
- Log into a VM that is whitelisted
- Log into a SQL instance
If I need to change a setting then I also need to log into the change request tool, open one, then use that to unlock elevated privs in Azure.
