Avatar alt-text: The head and upper torso of a stuffed gorilla. The gorilla is seated and its body is directed slightly towards the left. The head faces the same way but the gorilla is looking directly at the viewer.
Header alt-text: A 'Show Your Stripes' graph showing temperature anomalies for London since 1850, relative to a 1961 to 2010 baseline. The lines to the left are blue and become progressively redder to the right.

@sheepfilms@mastodon.social Clearly not designed by Apple otherwise the port would be on the bottom of the bus.

@howking@mastodonczech.cz @willhbr@ruby.social The road is for vehicles. A lorry is a vehicle. A car is a vehicle. A bike is a vehicle. A tractor is a vehicle. A horse and cart is a vehicle. All of them have equal right to make use of a road. All of them have equal right to be able to use a road safely and in whatever way they like when it is within the law governing the use of roads. Ignorant people like you don't get to dictate the law and who can and can't use roads to others just because you drive a car.

@fusion@mastodon.social @bradr@infosec.exchange Other possibilities could include hydroelectricity and tidal. So probably not the whole 40%.

@jlink @sundogplanets People also need to remember to include the energy consumption from the constant scraping of text, images and videos from across the internet in these calculations, to steal the training material they need to keep the LLMs up-to-date. It's one reason why these individual-task energy calculations are significantly underestimating the true cost.

@GhostOnTheHalfShell@masto.ai @Nonilex@masto.ai Preferably it'd be syphilis running rampant through the GOP. If you've ever been to the Hunterian Museum and seen the rotted skulls of its victims, you'll know why it used to be one of the most feared diseases before it became treatable.

@ObsidianUrbex@mstdn.social For anyone who didn't already know, borstals were most famously depicted in Scum from which, "Who's the daddy? I'm the daddy!" originates. Currently available to watch on ITVX in the UK. And, yes, it is brutal.

@Tamami I say unfortunately because hummingbird hawk-moths really are something special to experience. It took me a good 30 minutes to get the footage as bad as the video I attached in the previous post because they flit about rapidly between flowers, which makes them really difficult to film. And, if you didn't know any better, you would 100% think you were watching a bird.

@miss_rodent @wwahammy Want your child to become one of 'Epstein's very best friends'?
Forcing children to prove they're under 18 on every website they visit makes it easier than it has ever been for paedophiles to know they are talking to children and groom your child.

@brianbilston "Spear of influence" is actually pretty good as a (different to the one meant) analogy. I might try and use it.

@steveroyle So that's why it was on for me after being on leave. And, yes, despite switching it off again, it's back on again today.
I wish my organisation would just let us use Apple Mail. It might not be particularly great but it isn't as awful as Outlook.

@CrowOnAKettle @wwahammy Have you met people in the real world? Most will sign up for things in a heartbeat if they are tempted in the right way, without thinking about the potential consequences at all. And then imagine how easy that is to do when it comes to children and young teenagers.

@GossiTheDog Renting is a Hobson's choice. Private landlord - most likely ripping you off and will do fuck all for you. Letting agent - all but certainly ripping you off while also ripping off the landlord at the same time. Will still do fuck all for you, or the landlord.
Landlords justifiably have a bad reputation. Letting agents are much, much worse.

@GossiTheDog Lucky you or unlucky me is all I can say. The vast majority of landlords and letting agents I've had the displeasure of dealing with have been poor to abysmal. The ones who haven't were the exception.

@tewha@appdot.net Unless you're talking about a new interface for it (I haven't installed macOS 26) you've been able to add keywords to photos in iPhoto/Photos for well over a decade via the info panel for each photo.
Or was the macOS26 thing something else altogether?

@TheDinosaurDave@sauropods.win The snigger-inducing Tuojiangosaurus? I don't recognise the protruding bones from the shoulders though, so that's probably wrong.
