If I recall my literature search correctly, the slip rate for virtual buttons is typically a lot higher, even when their physical locations remain the same. And if the interface is modal, or button positions/sizes are subject to change, then that's more cognitive load and longer seek times taking away from your situational awareness tasks.

@isaacfreeman @byroncclark I suspect one factor is manosphere influencers trying to separate young men from the social influence of young women. Getting to know women as actual people is antithetical to the grift. Priming them to think of their female peers as hostile and other, and pointing at older women as a figleaf for more bullshit about tradwives (who also seem to be disrespected the most by that very demographic).

Having an anchor in shared principles matters for trust. It's easy to assume that people who are pushing in the same direction are doing so for the same reasons, and have the same destination in mind. That is not always the case.
