@josh@sideofburritos.social made a video showcasing the Duress password: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7oM0IB-IiM
Basically, you enter the Duress password, it says "wrong password", and after half a second, the phone reboots.

@notthebee@tilde.zone He specifically mentioned protections against memory corruption as a "feature for pedophiles so they can evade justice".
GrapheneOS is currently the only Android-based system that deploys a custom, hardened memory allocator and widely makes use of the ARM MTE.
He's specifically targeting GrapheneOS, even if he doesn't mention the name of the project.
He wants his statement to remain plausibly deniable, but anyone who listens closely to what he said will immediately see through his shady, manipulative tactics.
Duval wants to distract from the fact that his products have atrocious privacy and security and that he's trying to make money with false claims and shady marketing.
His statement about protections against memory corruption is also incredibly stupid, because Apple just released their Memory Integrity Enforcement feature based on the ARM v8.9 Enhanced Memory Tagging Extension in their A19 and M5 chips and recent versions of their operating systems. So, going by Duval's logic, Apple also makes products "for pedophiles so they can evade justice". It's entirely nonsensical, manipulative, and deceptive.

@britter @project1enigma @GrapheneOS @sparrowsion I would strongly recommend the Pixel 8a over the 7a, since it has a total update time of 7 years, whereas the 7a only got 5 years. It also features hardware security improvements, mainly a CPU that includes the ARM memory tagging extension.

Pixel phones are 700 USD or more
That's simply not true. You can get a new Pixel 9a directly from Google for 500 USD. Used or refurbished ones are way cheaper. The Pixel 8a still has over 5 years of support left, it's pretty cheap on the used market. There's a useful website that calculates the ratio between the new or used price of a device and the remaining support time. https://resist.berlin/pixel-preise/
Edit: For some reason the 10a costs as much as the 9a. So if you're looking to spend 500 USD on a new device, you should obviously get the 10a instead of the 9a. The 9a a pretty good deal on the used market though.
By buying used devices, you also avoid giving money to Google and more environmentally friendly. And of course it's cheaper, so it's a win-win situation.

@GrapheneOS I don't think they are referring to the push notification delivery system but rather to how notifications that have been received are stored and displayed in AOSP (afaik GrapheneOS doesn't change anything about it).

@yawnbox@disobey.net Moxie is opposed to federation because he tried it out and saw how terribly it failed. Decentralized protocols are unreliable. Just look at Matrix, it's buggy as hell. Even Mastodon (ActivityPub) constantly has several federation issues, but it's not as bad because no one really depends on it. Social media isn't as critical as instant messengers.
There's a reason why no decentralized messenger has taken off.

now are saying that leftists can be racist
As an anarchist I can tell you: I know way too many leftists who support a racist, imperialist ethnostate that currently occupies Palestine and commits a brutal genocide against the Palestinian people. So yes, leftists can unfortunately also be racists.

@catraxx@tech.lgbt You're German, right? Most of our left-wing parties (SPD, Grüne, good part of Die Linke) are full of firm supporters of the racist ethnostate that calls itself Israel. Does that make them right-wing parties now?
A "leftist zionist" is honestly a joke.
I fully agree with that. Not all leftists hold particularly smart positions though (unfortunately).

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social Why don't you build a small, non-exclusive library for supporting GrapheneOS via the approach described on https://grapheneos.org/articles/attestation-compatibility-guide
That way app developers wouldn't have to add new verified boot hashes every time support for a new device is added by GrapheneOS. They would simply have to update that one dependency.

@canleaf@mastodon.social That's because GrapheneOS has absolutely nothing to do with this situation.
This is a donation that was made by one of the founders of Mullvad (not Mullvad as a company mind you). GrapheneOS has clearly stated that they oppose these donations and the racist values that party stands for.
catraxx falsely claims that GrapheneOS supports these political positions, which is a blatant, baseless lie.

Grapheme spoke up and supported the decision of the Mullvad Co-founder's donation to said party.
No, they actually spoke up AGAINST the donations and AGAINST the racist beliefs held by that party.
They block anyone that speaks up about them.
That's not true.

None of these parties would ever utter the word "X group of people are parasites" that is very specific language.
Annalena Baerbock's term as foreign minister and her unquestioned support for the racist ethnostate has been scandalous enough. Not in language, but in actions. Claiming that it's ok to bomb hospitals, because the racist ethnostate is spreading propaganda about terrorists hiding there is not a scandal? How is that any better?
I think we agree on many points, especially about the corrupt, zionist politicians here in Germany.
What I don't understand is why you're claiming that GrapheneOS supports this racist filth, when they have always said that they're deeply opposed to that Swedish party and their positions, and the donations made by the Mullvad co-founder.
