UK, man, really on a roll today "Britain’s Court of Appeal has ruled that the government’s proscription of the activist group Palestine Action as a “terrorist” organisation was lawful. The ruling on Monday came after the government lodged an appeal challenging a High Court ruling in February that banning the group under the Terrorism Act 2000 was unlawful and disproportionate." https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/6/15/uk-court-says-proscribing-palestine-action-as-terrorist-group-was-lawful

# Majority in Dutch Senate supports ban on gay conversion therapy "After getting majority support in parliament, a D66 and VVD bill to ban gay conversion therapy now also has the support of a majority in the Eerste Kamer, the Dutch Senate. The Senators debated the bill on Tuesday and will officially vote on it next week, NOS reports. If the law is implemented, it will be a criminal offense to force homosexual and transgender people to undergo therapy or faith healing to change their sexual preferences or gender identity. Violators of the law will risk hefty fines or up to two years in prison. The D66 and VVD want the law to prevent the suffering of people forced to undergo these “cures.” The United Nations Human Rights Commission previously concluded that the practices cause serious suffering." https://nltimes.nl/2026/06/03/majority-dutch-senate-supports-ban-gay-conversion-therapy

# TWENTY-FIVE YEARS LATER, STILL BURNING "Twenty-five years ago, Hacktivismo and CULT OF THE DEAD COW issued a declaration grounding hacktivism in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We named state-sponsored censorship as the enemy, transnational corporations as its enablers, and argued that the international hacking community had a moral obligation to act. The situation is worse now than it was then. Global internet freedom has declined for fifteen consecutive years, according to Freedom House's Freedom on the Net 2025. The internet is more controlled and manipulated today than at any point in the history of the report. Citizens in at least 57 of the 72 countries covered were arrested or imprisoned for online expression on social, political, or religious topics during the coverage period. A record high. Freedom House itself was nearly destroyed in the process of documenting this. In January 2025, a US executive order froze foreign assistance funding and terminated more than 80 percent of the organization's programs worldwide. Freedom House lost most of its funding from a government that now appears in its own report. Further documentation of these conditions, including a country-by-country account of restriction mechanisms from 2001 to 2026, is documented in "The Great Decoupling." Reporters Without Borders, whose research informed our original declaration, classified the global state of press freedom as a "difficult situation" for the first time in the history of its index. We are issuing this declaration in that context." https://cultdeadcow.com/news/declaration_rebooted.html

"More than half of the world’s governments have access to commercial spyware that can break into computers and phones to steal sensitive information, according to U.K. intelligence.

The U.K. National Cyber Security Centre plans to reveal its findings Wednesday, according to Politico. The report suggests that the barrier to access this type of surveillance technology has fallen, potentially making it easier for foreign governments and hackers to target U.K. citizens, companies, and critical infrastructure with spyware.

It’s also an increase in the number of countries with access to these type of hacking tools, to 100, up from the 80 countries U.K. intelligence estimated in 2023."

FT: Apple launches legal challenge to UK attempt to access encrypted user data
"Apple has launched a new legal challenge against the UK’s latest attempt to create a “backdoor” to access encrypted customer data, a year after the Home Office agreed to drop a previous order after a row with Washington. The iPhone maker last month launched a new legal complaint at the Investigatory Powers Tribunal over the UK government’s controversial demand that Apple allow it access to encrypted cloud backups of data belonging to British users, according to an order issued by the court. The UK retreated from its original demand for a backdoor that allowed access to data from UK and US customers last year, ending a diplomatic battle between London and Washington. But UK authorities issued a new “technical capability notice” to Apple that did not apply to American users in the second half of last year, the FT reported in October. TCNs are issued under the UK Investigatory Powers Act, which the government maintains is needed by law enforcement to investigate terrorism and child sexual abuse. They can force companies to provide the UK security services with access to customer data, even if such information is protected by secure encryption. The court sent an order giving notice of the new Apple complaint to Privacy International, the human rights group that, alongside fellow campaigner Liberty, had previously launched a separate complaint against TCNs at the IPT. Their case had been due to be heard in December. Apple has consistently argued any such backdoor would make its systems less secure for all its customers. The company did not respond to a request for comment. Both Apple and the Home Office are legally restricted from discussing TCNs. The Home Office has previously argued that the Investigatory Powers Act, under which such orders are issued, contains robust safeguards and is only used when absolutely necessary, and that privacy and security are not “at odds” in such cases." https://archive.is/F8Jb0#selection-1465.0-1468.0

mountain rescue, discussions of injury or death
# Mountains, Rescues, and Risks https://www.emfcamp.org/schedule/2026/211-mountains-rescues-and-risks talk at #emfcamp by @andrew@fedi.aeracode.org - just some notes :) i brought my laptop this time haha search is finding people who area lost, reported by themselves or friend's, family rescue is getting people out of the field who cannot get themselves out often for medical reasons recovery is getting deceased people out of the field flatland means under 15 degrees, no need for rope systems low angle is 15-45 degrees, rope essential for safety but not suspending full body weight high angle over 45 degrees, rope supporting full body weight helicopters are sometimes possible but need narrow conditions. air support cannot always be counted on backcountry rescue has many fields - and also deserts, glaciers, caves, and many more mountain rescue is high consequence, especially you go towards high angle scenarios safety culture, do not rush. slow is smooth, smooth is fast. dont rush and call out mistakes. if you rush, you miss things. anyone can say stop, no matter the experience level training. dont make a real mission the first time in a while you have to do something. classroom, every two weeks in the field, loads of difference scenarios. clear command - self solving or duplicate work is a wste at worst and dangerous at best. it's not a democracy, for safety the people- you - the number one priority is always you. if you want out at any time. the team is not useful if the people are not useful. team - your teammates can only be helped i you're alight the subject - can only be helped if the team is healthy and capable we know the situation is (probably) dangerous. as one bad thing has already happened. have to go in with as much knowledge as possible. need to collect as much info as possible from other emergency services. every missions is a different set of skills. it is important to have as much optionality as you can. multi-agecy work is key, but needs prep. a common obstacle is language, acronyms, and codewords. important to avoid risk and confusion are people getting lost less? it certainly seems like it, but is it selection bias? technology is helping - and possibly hindering. more people than ever want to access difficult terrain without all the skills. the tech of rescue is changing. there will always be ropes and knots, but flying gear into the field at 20mph! like helicopters, drones cannot always fly, some environments they dont work too

interesting judgement regarding GDPR, and I agree. applies to the #fediverse i believe, and protects fediverse admins # Facts "A data subject published a post concerning their ADHD diagnosis on a publicly accessible online forum under a pseudonym. A person (the controller) who was a follower of the data subject and had previously been in personal contact with them, knew that the pseudonym belonged to the data subject. The controller subsequently sent a WhatsApp message to a mutual acquaintance stating that the data subject had received an ADHD diagnosis and included a link to the forum post. The data subject lodged a complaint with the Austrian DPA (DSB), arguing that their health data had been disclosed to a third party. They alleged that the controller by forwarding the pseudonymous forum profile, had unequivocally linked it to their real identity." # Holding "The [Data Protection Authority (in Austria)] held that the data subject was identifiable to the controller as regards the publication of the forum post under her profile name. Since the post also included information concerning her gender, age and diagnosis, it concluded that it constituted her personal data under Article 4(1) GDPR. The DPA further held that the prohibition on processing special categories of personal data under Article 9(1) GDPR did not apply because the data subject had manifestly made their health data public within the meaning of Article 9(2)(e) GDPR. It reasoned that actively disclosing the ADHD diagnosis in a publicly accessible forum constituted an unambiguous and conscious act by which the data subject made the information available to the public. The DPA therefore dismissed the complaint as unfounded." https://gdprhub.eu/index.php?title=DSB_(Austria)_-_2025-0.968.031 #mastoadmin #lawfedi #gdpr

i've finished my draft analysis in my new blog post, "United States v. Peter Stokes, Microsoft Windows surveillance via GDID"

https://yawnbox.eu/blog/microsoft-gdid-surveillance/

TL;DR
  1. Microsoft (NSA) conducts dragnet surveillance on all Windows 10 and Windows 11 systems worldwide by default.

  2. Microsoft's (NSA's) dragnet surveillance tracks Edge browser identifiers and Global Device Identifiers.

  3. Microsoft's (NSA's) dragnet surveillance somehow captures full URL data even when a device uses a VPN, which is likely exfiltrated from everyone's "personal computer" via malicious software called Edge and SmartScreen.

Are you drinking enough water at #emfcamp?

  • constant thirst is your most reliable cue

  • dark yellow pee is a sign you need more. pale yellow is ideal. B vitamins can tint it regardless

  • drinking plenty but still feel off? you may need to add electrolytes (like salt) to your water

  • warning signs: headache, brain fog, dizziness, lightheaded when standing, fatigue or feeling unusually irritable, dry mouth, or peeing far less often than normal

  • if you're suffering from heat exaustion, water alone wont help. you need to move to a cooler place immediately
