I do computer stuff by trade, but mostly lurk and post passing thoughts. Boostin' projects, shitposts, and causes. Images too, if there's alt text attached or in the replies.

Southwest US. Born in the first half of the '90s. Navigating MTF transition. Started HRT in March 2024.

Send me a follow request! If you pass a basic "genuine user" sniff test I'll probably accept.

Profile picture: A cartoon of a girl with wavy brown hair drawn up in a ponytail with a pink scrunchie. There's a photo-realistic acorn squash flower in her hair. I drew it myself, and the quality reflects my occupation outside of art. I will post it on the fridge later.

@ironicbadger #Alt4You A graph demonstrating that the GitHub website's uptime suffered considerably after being acquired by Microsoft. The graph shows average uptime of the website by-month from April 2016 to January 2026. Months that earn 100% are colored green, while months that miss that goal are colored either red or yellow, depending on some undisclosed metric of severity. A line is marked in November 2018 where Microsoft acquired GitHub. Before that, no months were visibly worse than 100%. There's one red dot, but it's not visibly different otherwise. For the first year after the acquisition uptime is worse but acceptable, and stays above 99.95%: six out of 12 months earn 100%. After October 2019 the story flips completely. Only one month has earned 100% uptime since then, and the remaining months vary wildly from 99.98% to about 99.70%. May 2023 was the worst, crashing almost as low as 99.5% uptime. Honestly, it looks like a seismograph that's started recording an active earthquake.

How many people dancing in the woods together is the right amount? Remember kids, if it's more than a car-full, you'd better be careful! #charts #HowDoIEvenTagThis

@RachelThornSub @Natasha_Jay Idk it could also be ignorance. Hooking an AI into your business is a bad idea for sure, but it's hard for me to see from these posts whether this person deserves it, or just fell for the grift.

@catsalad the best I've found is a vacuum that comes apart easier so you can clean it out. But you definitely still have to deal with it

@skaverat@skaverat.net Unix time includes seconds, so I would think that the trouble would start with people born at or before midnight (00:00:00) UTC, if anywhere. There are lots of folks who are older than 54, so I have to imagine it's a solved problem, but I've never considered how those dates are represented… Interesting question! Now I'm thinking about it too.

@ZachWeinersmith Totally understand; there are a fair amount of moderation and usability things that Mastodon is still missing out on. Hopefully one day we can figure this out haha. In the meantime we'll miss you and good luck over there! I'll always enjoy reading SMBC from my RSS feed! Thanks for all the great content.

@hyde I usually pick between straight HTML, Markdown, or an SSG depending on the depth of the project I'm taking notes on. I haven't been in school since learning Vim, but I've seen blog posts of people using LaTeX in NeoVim to take live notes in class, which I find impressive. I've written some LaTeX myself, but not usually for knowledge management. Is any of that something you'd be interested in?
