#PennedPossibilities 1142: Does your MC care about vanity and their image? Nope, they're all about procedure and regulation, and image and vanity aren't measurable metrics on their clipboard. My side character Ventral Striatum, the Goddess of Desire, on the other hand, cares a great deal. She enjoys luxurious fabrics against her skin and feeling pretty.

#PennedPossibilities 1138: Tell us about a time your MC forged their own path. Prefrontal Cortex is not really one for forging anything, they love their rules and regulations and find their happiness in the predictable and routine. Their entire raison d'être is closer to “Could everybody please remain on the approved path, preferably in single file, and has anyone completed Form 7B?” They are happiest when they think they run the show, and everyone around them nods and plays along.

#PennedPossibilities 1133: Did your MC attend school? What sort of education did they have? The unusual ones are Doc and Raquel. Doc was slowed down a bit by the whole world falling apart around her. She still managed to become a Doctor of Medicine. Raquel used to go to school until her parents decided it wasn't safe early in #TheLadyWithTheGoldenSword . She is home schooled by her sibling Simón and his girlfriend Sara after that, and taught by anyone who knows about subjects that interest her. In #LivingForJessie Rosa lets her use a computer in her apartment (there's no electricity at Sara's place). That's where she first meets Doc, who has many interesting books.

#PennedPossibilities 1134: What type of clothing does your MC typically wear? Cherie and Valerie: t-shirt with something silly printed on it, black jeans, black leather jacket, lavender bandana, black steel-toe boots. Other characters adopt parts of this style. OR Sometimes a dress at home or on a date. Sara: a mix of hiking clothes in greyish colors, camo, sometimes climbing gear, OR a long dress with matching gloves, OR see Cherie and Valerie but blouse instead of t-shirt Charlotte: typical lawyer suit, OR blouse and comfy pants, trench coat OR see Sara, see C&V Simón and Raquel: blouse/shirt and jeans, sometimes a dress, and see C&V Doc and Rosa: business suit or casual. Nice pullovers. #LivingForJessie #TheLadyWithTheGoldenSword

#PennedPossibilities 1137: Do you have an FMC, MMC, other gender MC, or more than one MC? Yes to all, though there's no MMC in anything I'm currently writing unless you consider Simón a man with very strong opinions about the patriarchy. I expect people who have assigned themselves to some very different boxes could all feel he's just like them.

#PennedPossibilities 1137: Do you have an FMC, MMC, other gender MC, or more than one MC? Actually, I don't specify genders of my multiple Main Characters for a very deliberate reason: it doesn't matter. In this story, gender is the least interesting thing about them.

#PennedPossibilities 1125 SC POV: Give your city (or town or region) a new name that reflects what type of place it is and explain why you chose that name. Boredom Pop. 85 Elev. 3201 "In the middle of the desert, five streets, a general store, a small diner, a scrapyard, a regional school, nothing else. Perfectly suited for a covert Army operation." EDIT (Had read the question as "MC" first. MY BAD!🤗)

#PennedPossibilities 1122 "SC POV: Do you have a favourite meal? Who makes it for you?" 'Darling, chocolate solves anything,' the goddess of Desire purrs. 'Don't underestimate the power of a rich, dark fudge or a steaming brownie. I don't care who makes it fore, me. Just give me the chocolate.'

#PennedPossibilities 1088 Name something that is considered rare and valuable in your WIP? What is common and essential? Rare and valuable: brain scanning (destructive) and memory imprinting (onto a 5-6 year old child, whose personality is overwritten): in The Permanence it's a capital offense for commoners to do it, but nearly universal among the nobility because lossy tech-mediated reincarnation is how the aristocracy maintains its grip on power. Common and essential: conservative tyranny.

#PennedPossibilities 1085 — What is special about your world or universe? Well, there are a couple of feline mutation viruses you can catch, and people have been known to mutate into big cats and show up in public. It ain't great. Society is learning to adjust to it, but it's not going super well, as you might have guessed. There are also oddities to it that no one understand, and you could ask Roan all about it, as he seems to be a test case for the strangest things of them all.

#PennedPossibilities 1066: "How do people travel long distances in your WIP?" Oh, the usual: starships, electric unicycles, space elevators, streetcars, unicorn-drawn carriages, zeppelins, and hovercraft. (Internal combustion engines and automobiles are unheard-of.)

#PennedPossibilities 1060 — Tell us about a WIP that you want to finish but doubt you ever will. The final New Management novel (on hold at 24K words since mid-2024). In which Imp and his crew take the dream roads to Narnia to film amateur action talking animal porn to sell at a furry convention, but wind up in the version of Narnia written by William S. Burroughs instead of C. S. Lewis. There are mugwumps, and Jadis the White Witch is a strict lesbian domme.
