If you have noticed that copy and paste suddenly stopped working in Microsoft Excel, you are not alone. Microsoft's latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5002914) has introduced a bug that silently disables the paste function across Excel 2016, 2019, 2021, and 2024. When users attempt to paste content, the operation simply fails without displaying an error message or alert: the source stays selected, and the target cell remains blank. Microsoft has officially acknowledged the issue and confirmed that a fix is currently in the works. #PatchTuesday 2026-07 Patching experience in my test lab (#homelab). Windows 11 - No issues on any test machines / VMs. Windows 10 - Normal, ESU machine rebooted a few more times than I expected. Windows Server 2016 - Normal, Servicing Stack Update (KB5099542). New Servicing Stack every month now, I guess. Windows Server 2019 - Normal, uneventful. Windows Server 2022 - Normal, uneventful. Windows Server 2025 - Normal, uneventful. Note: Wow, per bleepingcomputer, 570 vulnerabilities fixed, 3 zero-days (2 actively exploited), 141 remote code execution flaws – that's A LOT.

Hey Windows (ab)users, Microsoft has a big present for you: Today they released software updates to plug at least 570 security holes in their Windows operating systems and other software, almost triple the number of vulnerabilities the software giant fixed in its record-smashing Patch Tuesday release last month. Microsoft attributed the burgeoning patch counts to vulnerability discoveries aided by artificial intelligence. Hey Windows (ab)users! Microsoft patched around 200 vulnerabilities in Windows etc today, a record Patch Tuesday batch. All indications are they fixed two of the zero-days dropped last month by the researcher Nightmare Eclipse, including "Green Plasma" and the "YellowKey" exploit that allowed local access to data encrypted by BitLocker. In response to today's Patch Tuesday, Nightmare Eclipse dropped an exploit for what they claimed was a zero-day bug in Windows Defender.
