I just a new step of self care. I've been subscribed to the digital version of my city's newspaper. This news site uses patterns of changing the articles many times a day. And if you don't see them then, you have no idea the article happened. As such, I have found myself on the site on the order of 20 times a day or more, just so I can stay informed. In addition, a lot of the articles they post are irrelevant to me or cause me distress. This is not healthy, so I cancelled the subscription. I'll just have to be aware of important local news in some other fashion. #SelfCare #Engagement #Newspaper

Two in three LGBTQ+ students in the US feel unsafe at their own school. Only one in three looks forward to going. 86% of trans and gender-expansive kids avoid parts of their own building. 64% avoid the bathrooms. 41% were punished for using the one that matched them. This is Glisten's 13th National School Climate Survey, And it sucks a donkey #Trans #Transgender #TransRights #LGBTQ #LGBTQIAPlus #QueerNews #Education #SchoolSafety #News #Newspaper #Politics #Journalism #Resist #Pride

A president cannot edit the Constitution with a Sharpie. The soil does not check your parents' visas before it decides you belong to it. When did a court last surprise you by holding a line you'd braced to lose? #BirthrightCitizenship #SCOTUS #14thAmendment #Citizenship #Immigration #Politics #News #Newspaper #Journalism #Constitution #CivilRights #Resist #Solidarity #LGBTQ https://twp.ai/4htGni

Somewhere in this country a baby was born this morning to parents without papers. And that baby is an American. Six justices, 6–3, said the 14th Amendment means what it has meant since 1868: born here, subject to our laws, one of us. Trump signed it away his first afternoon back. The Court handed it back today. #BirthrightCitizenship #SCOTUS #14thAmendment #Citizenship #Immigration #Politics #News #Newspaper #Journalism #Constitution #CivilRights #Resist #Solidarity #LGBTQ

Trump claimed 45,000 at his "Great American State Fair." His own press secretary posted photos of a lawn so empty you could film a Western on it The Daily Beast called it virtually deserted. But the empty chairs nearly buried the grotesque part: inside North Carolina's privately-sponsored pavilion, a video display ran the Confederate battle flag #News #Journalism #Journalismus #Medias #Newspaper #Fediverse #Politics #Trump #Democracy #Resist #Accountability #USPol https://twp.ai/4hrxwZ

For folks outside of Portland, y’all should know that we have this great newspaper called Street Roots. https://www.streetroots.org It’s run by folks experiencing houselessness. But that’s not a gimmick. They do excellent work. Great reporting with engaging stories. I always buy the papers from folks who are selling them on the streets. It feels good to contribute to their cause. And it’s always a great read. #Portland #PDX #StreetRoots #Journalism #Newspaper #Homelessness #Houselessness

I've just discovered that today is the last day that The Age newspaper will be printed and available for sale in Tasmania. That's a pity, I remember being able to pick up The Age while travelling in Tassie. I still get the print editions of the weekend Age delivered in Melbourne, as an add-on to my digital subscription. Anyway, I'm pleased to have had one of my articles in the final Tassie edition, in the Traveller section of the Sunday Age today. #Newspaper #Tasmania https://www.abc.net.au/news/2026-02-23/nine-newspaper-no-longer-printed-in-tasmania/106375940
