Hello Fediverse. I'm looking for a job. I'm a web developer of 12 years of experience (mostly backend, but I can do some frontend in a pinch). Microservices, new APIs, refactorings - I did it all. I primarily worked with #Ruby and Rails, but I have experience with #Python and #Elixir. Currently residing in Israel, but I'm happy to work remotely on contract, or maybe even relocate. If you're interested, my LinkedIn is https://www.linkedin.com/in/artemiysolopov/ #RubyOnRails #SoftwareEngineering #GetFediHired

Hi #Elixir community. 50 lines of aliases in every module do not improve the quality or readability of your code. It makes it harder to find and locate stuff using tools like ripgrep. To take this upfront: No, humans still have to read and understand your code, even if you didn't write it. Also, if you need to alias more than four or five modules into your module, then it might be an indicator that you have a major architectural design problem. Update your credo rules accordingly.

This is an interesting #Elixir pipes operator experiment in #Ruby. #Python has also been experimenting with such an operator. Raku (not mentioned in the linked article) already has the ==> sequence operator, of course (which can also can be used backwards <== - who has doubted? :-) ). https://zverok.space/blog/2024-11-16-elixir-pipes.html #syntax #codegolf #fun #coding #RakuLang

Does anyone have any tips for learning #elixir ? I've always used IntelliJ as my IDE but it seems to behave slightly inconsistently when using elixir. Also is there any way you get the interactive debugging to work like you would with say Java?
