#Clavicular’s charges shows the real danger of #MAGA manhood Long before his arrest for rape, the #looksmaxxing star built a brand based on contempt for women By Amanda Marcotte "It wasn’t long after Braden Peters, better known as 'Clavicular,' was arrested on suspicion of raping a 17-year-old girl at his family’s home in Massachusetts that his fellow MAGA influencers started complaining that he was the real victim. " 'Now we live in a climate where a 19-year-old can’t even sleep with a 16-year-old with a little alcohol involved. Absolutely insane,' said #NickFuentes, the popular #WhiteNationalist podcaster, ignoring the fact that it has long been considered rape to have sex with someone unconscious and unable to consent, as alleged by the criminal complaint against Peters." There’s an AI “meeting transcription and summary tool” for video meetings at my workplace that comes with a disclaimer that it should not be used if anyone does not consent. I never consent. Last time I said I didn’t want to use the tool in a meeting with a group of people I’m new to meeting, the meeting organizer asked “may I know why?” and I responded “Because I don’t consent,” and gave a blank stare. The organizer was visibly annoyed. This is a pattern with all these AI tools. Non-consent is perceived as an annoyance. The people refusing to use AI are perceived as the problem, not the AI tool. Consent is an inconvenience, not a right to be respected. #AI #consent #ethics

The problem with the new Apple Watch features isn't just about the technology, it's about the erosion of trust in our society. Even if you don't activate those features on your Apple Watch, even if you wear an older model, and even if you wear a completely different brand of smart watches, people might think you are recording them now. For the same reason I had to carefully choose my new glasses model to make sure they cannot be confused with Meta's Ray-Ban spy glasses, people will now look at your wrists suspiciously. These technologies that record everything around without consent dissolve the base of trust we had for each other. All of our words scrutinize, at all time, in every context. This silences us over time. This makes us feel unsafe. The problem goes well beyond technology itself, and well beyond a technical fix, it has become a cultural problem. One that we need to fix urgently. #Privacy #Consent #MassSurveillance #Trust

Imagine you're having a remote appointment with your doctor for a very personal health issue. Your doctor is a tech enthusiast, and is proudly wearing the new Apple Watch with all the recording features enabled. You don't see the "Audible and visible signals for Live Rewind", because you don't see your doctor's wrist on videochat or on speakerphone. The "Omitted content" safeguard fails to detect the sensitive conversation, because none of the pre-selected keywords are detected. "What about all the privacy laws protecting me?", you claim in distress. Sadly, your doctor is unaware and thinks "surely Apple respects all the laws by default?" The medical clinic isn't informed about privacy risks related to new technologies, and hasn't implemented any training or policies about it yet. Your sensitive health data is collected by Apple's new features, stored on their servers, blissfully unaware of the infringements to your consent, your privacy, and all the laws supposed to protect you. This is only one scenario of the many surveillance nightmares we might hear about in the coming months and years. Brace yourself. #Privacy #Security #Consent #Apple

Hi! I'm LittleKitty and I talk about kink and BDSM, relationship anarchy, and sex, from the viewpoint of someone with many neurospicies like Autism and ADHD and rejection sensitivity dysphoria, and a bunch of chronic illnesses, and queer identities like being genderfae, demisexual, and aceflux. Wholesome, honest, and open discussion about the confluence of all of the above. Also boobs. And butts. :BlobCat_EvilSneakyDevil:#introduction #kink #smut #bdsm #polyamory #consent #sex #lewd

A week after I wrote about my unease around smart glasses, the debate has moved fast. A German digital-rights group has now filed a complaint over Meta’s AI glasses, arguing people can be filmed without noticing (👉 https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/german-advocacy-group-lodges-criminal-complaint-over-meta-ai-glasses-2026-08-12/) A visible recording light tells me recording is happening. It still does not answer whether the people around it consented. My original piece: https://www.martinkubler.com/smart-glasses-consent/ #SmartGlasses #Privacy #Consent

So Claude apparently creates a “secret” URL for the conversations people have with it. URLs can be indexed if they can be reached. So users’ private conversations with Claude, predictably, started showing up in Google search results. “But but but we had a robots.txt file!” says Anthropic, unironically. https://www.wired.com/story/private-claude-chats-exposed-in-google-and-bing-search-results/ #noai #ai #consent #badideas

The most fundamental concept to comprehend to understand privacy is consent. The most important concept to comprehend to understand why most AI training data is unethical is consent. Consent is one the least understood concept in our society, yet the most likely to save it. If you have difficulty understanding why privacy is important and why nonconsensual data sets are problematic, start learning more about consent. It will benefit all aspects of your life, and society as a whole as well. #Consent #Privacy #HumanRights #NoAI

There will never be an AI tool that is truly private unless it hasn't trained on nonconsensual data. Even if a platform were able to create the perfect protections for its users' prompts and results, If the platform is built from or utilizing an AI model that was trained on or is updated and optimized with data that was scraped from millions of people without their consent, then of course this platform isn't "privacy-respectful." How could it be? The company is saying: "We respect the privacy of our users while they are using our platform, but outside of it, it's fair game." Users thinking they are using a privacy-respectful platform are in fact saying: "Privacy for me and not for thee," And are directly contributing to the platform needing to scrape even more nonconsensual data to improve. Always ask: Where the training data comes from? Without the assurance that a platform only uses AI models that have only been training on data acquired ethically, it is not a privacy-respectful platform. #Privacy #AI #Consent #HumanRights #NoAI

So, Codeberg (which is a FOSS/freedom-focused code hosting site) is run as a cooperative, with members able to nominate measures/policies and vote on them etc. They just had a vote and approved policies making "AI" / LLM-based projects basically unwelcome there. The vote wasn't close; 70% voted in favour of the policy. It's not a hard & fast "if you use LLM, you're banned" or anything of the sort - it's quite a measured, reasoned stance. The slopcoders are freaking out. They just don't understand how this is possible. Imagine! A community of people that makes their own decisions and you can't just make them do what you want or ignore them and consume their resources without their consent! "I like slopcoding, actually" is turning out to be a *really* good litmus test for people you want to have absolutely nothing to do with your project or your community. Look at some of the whining (this is the only reason I would ever link to YCombinator [1]): https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49021856 [1] Your occasional and irregular reminder: "Hacker" "News" is neither. #NoAI #NoLLM #sloperator #slopcoding #vibecoding #consent #Codeberg #hosting #forge #community #FOSS #HackerNews #YCombinator

#Corporations doing A/B testing on the users without informed #consent should be recognized as doing Dr Mengele kind of thing. #Google redirecting road traffic or Facebook experimenting with showing different kind of stuff, that's all nonconsensual human experimentation. Nazi shit.

People claiming: "It's legal! I can record people without consent" forget that: 1: One-party consent rules do not absolve you from having to respect privacy laws. 2: Recording people without consent can still be considered criminal harassment, voyeurism, stalking, or doxxing depending on context. 3: If you do not properly disclose data collection prior to collection it is likely the tool you use has a special close saying you are legally responsible for doing so in their Terms of Service (always read them fully). 4: And finally, even when something is legal (or not illegal yet), this doesn't mean it is ethical. You should always be more concerned about ethics. #Privacy #Consent

The Speakeasy has banned admin bastetandptah(at)kinkycats(dot)org for posting erotic art without obtaining permission from the models or creators. It is their position that publicly available art is "free to distribute" as long as the model or artist receives proper attribution. While proper attribution is a condition many artists and models impose on those sharing their art, it is not sufficient if there is no explicit permission to distribute, whether attributed or not. In other words... no permission, no share. We do not think it unreasonable to ask for permission before using other people's bodies and art. There are plenty of people willing to say yes; opt-in policies empower those sharing themselves v disempowering them. #fediblock #consent

Imagine a system where every message is encrypted with at least two keys, one for the sender and one for the receiver. Any one party can destroy its key part and leave the message inaccessible to the other. The only operation that does not require an explicit simultaneous consent is a scoped request for a signature, that can be either blocked at the IP/MAC level if necessary, or automatically accepted for trusted contacts, although the option to revoke it by deleting all related keys will always remain. Fundamentally, this means that there cannot be such a thing as a public stream, because only the senders and receivers have access to the keys required to decode the message. The only way to send messages to people you are yet to be in contact with, would be to send them to specific relay accounts that work as a forum group or community. These group accounts must sign all the messages together with the sender and, eventually, the receiver; when a new group member joins, the relay group account asks the sender and receiver to sign the message that the original sender delivered to the relay. Administrators can moderate group messages by deleting their own key part, leaving such messages inaccessible to everyone else. In order to view a group message, you as an user must have been granted access to the group's public key part; the only technical complication comes from the fact that removing members requires a key rotation, potentially on all current and former messages in the group, which might end up being wasteful in terms of bandwidth and storage... ...And, now that I think about it, the closest thing to that protocol would be Matrix! It already has support for encryption and management of groups in the form of rooms, as well as one-on-one messages (which are themselves rooms with only two members). Rooms can also have administrators with increasing levels of permissions. I wonder if there will be a Movim-like implementation that uses Matrix beneath the hood to make a consent-first federated social network. #Matrix #ActivityPub #Consent RE: hub.azkware.net/objects/6e2ecb…
