I just heard about tribe.net and the context seemed to imply two interesting things:
It used to be something else (maybe a forum site?) while now it is a #mastodon instanceIt has burners! Hooray! There might be hope for a place for burners to communicate that isn't Facebook

I've been disappointed in my #RegionalBurn experiences this year... until now! My "home burn," #PlayaDelFuego (PdF), in PA, was a no-go because of vehicle issues, and my autumn burn, #ConstellationBurn (also in PA), was canceled. But I just got back from #POrtalBurn in southwestern NY (USA). It's a small burn on a pretty hillside and it was delightful. Snacks, drinks, absolutely wonderful people to talk to (and approximately 2 people who seemed like dickheads but were still polite and respectful in a general sense), silly hijinks, blinged-out theme camps, jamming with guitar, homemade drums, etc. on multiple occasions with a mix of musicians whose skill level ranged from "what is a music" to "I perform regularly with a jazz ensemble"... it was everything I hoped it would be.

Another burn, another post trying to convince people on Facebook that Mastodon is the most burnery of socials 🤣
(I don't expect it to succeed. Network effect is powerful. But still, I try.)

Q1: intro/what do you wish was up?
A1: Hi, I'm Ted. Mostly lately I build things with blinky lights.
I've been meaning work on some wearable glowy projects for #BurningMan/#Neotropolis. Last night I thought of a way to handle a software problem that's been in my way. (Along with a flood of other ideas)
Also I've been meaning to do some welding practice as meditation, but that will need to wait a week.
And #OpenSauce last weekend makes me want to build a robot.

I had a good day yesterday, watching 4 films :)
"The Last First: Winter K2" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt39150288/) - a rather heavy one to start with, about an expedition up the #mountain #K2 that goes badly wrong.
Next was "The Wind's Thirst" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt39172060/) about some indigenous Colombians at the mercy of #coal extraction and #WindFarm projects redirecting river water and subjecting them to violence.
"Hell's Army" (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt39830102/) - was very interesting - about the origins of the #WagnerGroup and their involvement in various wars.
In the Q&A afterwards, they said that some former Wagner Group members are now security on #Russia's "Shadow Fleet" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_shadow_fleet)
Last was "Notes From The Underground" (https://www.sheffdocfest.com/film/notes-underground) about the #HipHop music scene in #CapeTown and how it developed under #apartheid up to the present day.
In their Q&A they said they spent 34 days in 2017 filming, but lost all the footage in the burglary :( After mourning for a while, they then had to go back and shoot it all again.
There were loads of other interesting-looking films I would like to watch, but I could only make the Sunday :(
There was also a #BurningMan series on #HBO (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt29033873) that they showed a couple of episodes from, but I was too late to get tickets. I really need to look out for that as my mate said it was good!
