My field was separate from my MOS. I proved to be at the same proficiency as the supervisors, but was passed up on the open sup/assist manager position. So to make it up to me, they made me the designated trainer. No pay bump. Just more responsibility. They said they didn't know how I'd lead, and if I was going to be "militaristic". I felt pretty defeated after that. Not everyone in the military leads like the movies/books/media portrays that we lead. (I'm sure you're aware of that, just felt the need to say it.)
