Just picked up Joe Jackson's new album, Hope and Fury. He's one of my all-time favourite artists: subversive, stroppy, in-your-face, experimental and melodic, AND he looks great in drag. Some cracking stuff on this album.

I finished Atonement! Holy shit that ending was bad. 2/5 and I won't be reading that author again.
Now I need something zippy and fun with every fibre of my being. Agatha Christie! It's you, The Moving Finger, and me, how about it? ❣️

That ending was bittersweet, eh. Will take a while to process. Emotions running high in the fandom on other platforms. 😇 👿 #GoodOmens #GoodOmens3

Just fifty pages left to read in my struggle through Atonement. I'm The Little Engine That Could. I think I can, I know I can!
I'm not hating it, I'm liking it, but o mamma mia, it's a treacly substance that's taxing me sorely.

There's a large fire at the hotel just three doors down from our building. Five fire engines and an ambulance, the road taped off, firemen & women everywhere, it's chaos. 😕

@colorblindcowboy@mastodon.art I genuinely have no idea how it's come to be so renowned. It's absolutely average. The writing elevated it, but the plot and pace dragged it down into a puddle.
Harpo speaks! 🚨
(I grew up watching Marx Brothers films, and Harpo was always my favourite.)
"New recordings reveal mute Marx brother chatting with audience."
Mini book haul! 🎉 📚
I made good on my threat and bought some more Vita Sackville-West, plus her biography by Victoria Glendinning. Maurice by E.M. Forster has long been one of my favourite novels, but I wanted a nice illustrated hardcover edition, and this hits the spot. My original 1987 film tie-in edition is falling to pieces!

@miki_lou@mastodon.social Yes, that's what I'm finding here. It's my first novel by this author.

@MardraS@mas.to Oh yes, definitely worth watching. I enjoyed it a lot, but I would have tweaked that ending. (Don't want to spoil anything!) DT & MS marvellous as always.

@librarymonster@glammr.us It'll be 8am on Wednesday for me here in the UK. I'm getting up early especially. I'm so excited. 😂

@colorblindcowboy@mastodon.art You must! Her style (in this novel at least) is quite similar to Woolf's early work.
Reading ruts are the worst. Agatha Christie is my go-to author for getting out of one.
Had a great time with All Passion Spent. What a fine writer Sackville-West was. I definitely want to read more of her work, and Victoria Glendinning's biography, too, at some point.
Now about to begin Atonement by Ian McEwan. I know there's a film adaptation with Benedict Cumberbatch, which I haven't seen -- so if I enjoy the novel then that's something to look forward to watching!

@Annaspanner I had a rotten experience with World of Books last year (was lied to about an order), so I would *never* recommend them as a seller to anyone.
