@danluu@mastodon.social I built a couple of things with Gastown to try it out but stopped using it when it was spending too much time doing self maintenance. Steve built a far too complicated framework and much of the functionality has migrated into Claude etc. so it isn’t needed. I think Claude-flow (now ruflow) has managed to grow by adopting and adapting to the gaps in the underlying platforms better.

There are lots of new #Music videos of #AngineDePoitrine as their tour works its way around the world. This one of Utzp from May 10th in Leeds is fun to watch, and it’s cool to see the guitarist working the loop pedals with his feet. https://youtu.be/O9sgm2eNcIg

@moira@mastodon.murkworks.net I bought a new LG OLED TV recently. Set it up via WiFi for long enough to get a firmware update then did a full reset and left it in dumb monitor mode, my AppleTV box connects to it via a Marantz cinema amp and it all seems to be working fine. All LG has is the HDMI connection.

@hausfath@fediscience.org The other silver lining is that wind+solar+batteries is the lowest cost energy, so there’s an economic incentive to move away from other energy sources. Gas and other short term fixes for the capacity and distribution shortages should have a fairly short shelf life.

It’s been a long wait, but @suksr@mastodon.social’s book is finally out and I just got my copy. Architecture for Flow: Adaptive Systems with Domain-Driven Design, Wardley Mapping, and Team Topologies - I’ve seen her talks on this subject and it’s a powerful combination of tools for getting large teams organized and productive. https://www.amazon.com/Architecture-Flow-Domain-Driven-Topologies-Addison-Wesley-ebook/dp/B0FLQ98HDP

@lkanies The benchmark has unit, BDD and integration tests. It’s a read-only MCP server designed to be directly attached to an LLM so it doesn’t have a security model. If you look at my adrianco/goodies repo there’s an OWASP top ten evaluated secure protocol that Claude built for me. The story you linked is on point. Many of the things Steve is working around with Gastown will be subsumed by Claude soon. It’s a pointer, and I had some influence on Steve building it 😳

@hausfath@fediscience.org The other trend is to local models. My M5 64GB laptop goes from a few watts to 50W or so (it has a 96W power supply) and the fans come on when it’s thinking hard. Thats still much less than sending prompts away to run on Claude.

@mfowler@toot.thoughtworks.com @bboeckel@toot.thoughtworks.com Detailed results with a local model using Retort. Aggregated over four languages, the local model came out at pass-proportion 0.33 — versus the Claude frontier's ~0.98 on the identical task. It is genuinely agentic — it plans, calls tools, writes files, runs tests — but it is not reliable: Python it can do (it eventually reached 3-of-3), Go it half-manages, and TypeScript and Rust it fails outright. https://github.com/adrianco/retort/blob/main/model-blog.md

@sarahtaber@mastodon.online There are two datacenter water usage metrics. One is Water Usage Effectiveness WUE in liters/kW. It ranges from near zero to around 2.0 across all regions and suppliers. AWS Oregon was 0.18 in 2023 and 0.16 in 2024. These are very water efficient datacenters. The other metric is replenishment, the amount of clean water released over water taken in. Some datacenters are positive, releasing cleaned up water suitable for agriculture, others negative if they evaporate cleaned water.
