I do like how the ripples are making this Eurasian coot look like it's also having a spiky hair day 😁 Photo taken yesterday on my brief trip down to the allotments #birdsoftheworld #birds #coots | #kent #england

I had fun this evening stringing the best of the onion harvest to take down to my friends who have let me look after their little allotment this last couple of years. I planted them as sets in late April, but unfortunately forgot to make note of the variety 🙄 #allotmentgardening | #kent #england
The big pond at the allotment was looking as lovely as ever yesterday evening 😍 #naturephotography #landscapephotography | #kent #england
I didn't get much done on my brief trip to the allotments on Saturday, but I did get another good harvest of super-sweet cherry tomatoes 🍅😋 #allotments #allotmentgardening #gardening | #kent #england
Not great pics (they were full zoom on my phone), but I was reminded yesterday on my walk to the allotments, how attractively patterned juvenile Black-headed Gulls are 😍 #birdsoftheworld #birds #gulls | #kent #england
I couldn't resist taking a series of shots of this very obliging coot this evening 😍 #birdsoftheworld #birds #coots | #kent #england
I'm pleased that the onions have naturally keeled-over, as I'm hoping this is a good sign that they are maturing properly 🤞 #allotmentgardening #allotment #gardening #onions | #kent #england
I was very lucky not to disturb the resident allotment heron when I turned the corner of the path leading to the footbridge. I managed to get this short video #greyheron #heron #birdsoftheworld #birds #kent #england
I made a start yesterday (Saturday) on the last "out-of-control" bed at my friend's little allotment. Unfortunately, the raspberries had been almost completely choked out by brambles and bindweed. I fitted the "brush cutter" attachment to my cordless strimmer and made a careful start #allotmentgardening #gardening #allotments | #kent #england
I wasn't going to post any 🌻 pics this year, as I wanted a break, and it was a self-sown seedling I took late pity on, and didn't think would amount to much.. however.. it has put on quite a growth spurt since moving into the corner, and I'm thinking it might be worth entering into the town comp? 🙂
1st of July - New Potato Day! (For me anyway. Apparently the Feast Day of Saints Peter and Paul, which was a couple of days ago, is often recognised as such). Not a bad haul from the first three plants! They tasted good too! 😋 #newpotatoes #potatoes #allotmentgardening #gardening | #kent #england
Mum, wait for us! 😍 The small family of Mallards that I met yesterday whilst showing some friends around the allotments. The pic of the "big pond" I took late afternoon Wednesday, but forgot to post 😊 #mallards #ducks #birdsoftheworld | #kent #england
Only a quick trip to the allotment this evening, really just to check on things, but I did make a start on mulching the tomatoes with spent potting compost that I brought down from home. A pretty good set overall, I think 👍 #allotmentgardening #allotment #gardening #tomatoes | #kent #england
Good and bad news from the allotment yesterday. I'll get the bad out of the way. The sunflower seedling was gone, completely eaten off by slugs (I really don't like to use pellets) 😔 The good news. The tatties are looking good 🙂 #allotmentgardening #allotment #gardening | #kent #england
My usual view of the big pond in the allotment grounds this evening, and before-and-after pics of my friend's little allotment after I put the strimmer around. I think we can say that it's mostly "under-control" now 😅 #allotmentgardening #gardening | #kent #england
Unfortunately, something had really gone to town on the sunflower seedling I had growing under the makeshift cloche 😔 I wasn't able to find the culprit nearby, but I did find several likely offenders within crawling distance, which were unceremoniously fed to the ducks 🙂 #gardening | #kent #england
How my friend's little allotment looked as I left it yesterday evening. I even managed to finally take down last year's runner bean poles - something I've been meaning to do for ages 🙂 #allotmentgardening #allotment #gardening | #kent #england
I've always thought that juvenile European Herring Gulls have a charm all to themselves. The adults, although undoubtedly majestic, not so much 🙂 #europeanherringgull #herringgull #gulls #birdsoftheworld #birds | #kent #england
2am kickoff 😐 Although they were shy, I did manage to get a couple decent pics of the pigeons last Thursday. I think I should be scared of this one! 😬😅 #birdsoftheworld #birds #pigeons | #kent #england
I was lucky enough to capture this touching (if slightly squeamish) moment of a parent Collared Dove feeding its fledgling this afternoon. They do it by regurgitation 🤢😅 #birdsoftheworld #birds | #kent #england

I thought this was pretty impressive for full-zoom on my phone, sitting in the exact same spot as from where I took the photo. Small "flatties" (juvenile flatfish) are its main prey here, I think.
This big'n I'm pretty sure is a common carp, but I'm prepared to be corrected 😁 #freshwaterfish #fish | #kent #england

I didn't do any better with this video. They all seemed shy this evening 😊

Here's a good example of what I mean by Georg Wietschorke on Pixabay 😁

@Irisfreundin@troet.cafe 👍 Yes, that would have been a good idea. It's only my second year looking after the plot for friends who find themselves too busy at present, and I'm really only taking a relaxed approach. Next time, for sure! 😊

@AnnonBudgie@theblower.au 👍 I was six years dry this April, so I'm not sure they would be a good idea for me 🤔😁 I have visions of me drinking slug-infused beer! 😁😅

@delanthear Hi again, delan! Finally, I managed to find the time and energy (manflu, at it's very worst, these last few weeks! 😊) to contact Replit support. Truly sorry it's taken me so long to do so! Here's what they sent me back today, and I will make sure to badger them if I don't get a follow-up by Friday. Quinn's their AI assistant, I think.
Best,
Tim

@Lorraine@beige.party Ahh.. near to home! Land of My Fathers! (Well, not really, but I like to think so! 😉) 😁

@delanthear Yes, it's all a little strange, but hopefully the more it's brought to their attention, the more likely they are to look into changing/improving things 🤞

@Lorraine@beige.party It was my second go at it, so not quite as satisfying. I do also like what G said for mine 😁
"Congratulations on the perfect score! Getting 100% on the Common Birds of Argentina quiz—and nailing all 6 scientific names in just 26 seconds—is seriously impressive. That averages out to less than 5 seconds per question!"
"Seriously impressive." I'm beginning to feel that ol' noggin starting to swell again! 😂😊 https://birdbrainer.app

@Lorraine@kind.social Yes, it's more of a Scottish name than English, but my family spent my first five years on the Shetland Isles, and I grew up with using the name. Neeps and tatties, both 🙂

@delanthear I've heard back already! They didn't offer any new explanations to the process (I was having a hard time following it anyway, so was somewhat relieved 😊), but they did write this:
"All of our marketing emails should contain an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If your user is unable to locate this, you can ask them to email privacy@replit.com, and we can remove them manually."
Hope this helps 🤞

@Lorraine@beige.party 👍 Yes, careful consideration was needed between two of them. Fortunately, I chose correctly 🤓😅 https://birdbrainer.app
