I met with a real life artist today.
They once bought a piece back from a customer cos they missed it too much, thats how you know its a real artist hehe.
also v humble and unpretentious, a kind of 'small' artist.
Maybe I'll post some photos of their work when I get round to it.
also made me decide that I might do some 'samples only' tracks, sounds like a challenge...

is it me or is there a preponderance of people having outrageous meltdowns these days?

I've been told that this can be characterised as an 'amygdala hijack', when the amygdala is atrophied it can no longer cope with an overload of emotional response so goes into overdrive - one of the causes of this atrophy is lack of social interactions.
although I've seen it happen in people who have reasonably healthy social lives, hmmm
definitely (anecdotally) seems to be a modern phenomenon

Come in contact with a couple of big name artists recently to whom the concept of events centred on community seems completely foreign to.

Hoping these are exceptions, as there are artists like @jamesholden@universeodon.com who really get it.

Yes all dance music is intelligent because dancing is always a good idea. But who is dancing? Who are the people around you? How do you connect and support each other?

No Headliners is maybe gonna have to become a hard rule?

None of us are making any filthy lucre so we might as well have a good time? Am I allowed to be naïve forever?

It was kinda inevitable that artists with greater energy would start getting booked and I'd get left behind...
I'll always be boosting people and standing up for them, as long as I'm doing events.
The numbers for AlgoRhythms are fading off while those who can afford to put £thousands behind events take off... But that's the world we live in. Even if I end up bailing, I know that I played my small part in bringing up a thriving scene :)
While I've only made a tiny dent as an artist - helping others succeed has been a lot more successful so that's something 💖

The fight is always to carve out time to do these things in a very commercial world.

One of my favourite things about the algorave guidelines is the 'No Headliners' thing.
