@kde@floss.social @gnome@floss.social I use this as an example for cis people who say they don't understand trans people's need to transition. Turing was made to take estrogen. He was a cis man and estrogen changed him into someone he couldn't live as. "Chemical castration" hides this reality. Being #trans and not allowed to transition (in whatever way you need, social, physical, ...) is rally dangerous for your health.

@maxleibman 100%! UBI and 4 day weeks etc are social decisions; they don't need a particular technology. AI is at best a product for making investors and billionaires richer. These folk are NOT interested in paying you NOT to work. At worst, AI is a political device aiding the dismantling of democracy and state; again quite counter to notions of UBI.

@StingrayBadger just snarkin. I rarely drive except to visit parents and I'm amazed how long it takes - 3 hours last time, mostly motorways, so averaging 40mph. I'm careful to remind myself that I am not _in_ traffic, I _am_ traffic. But I wonder how people apparently do this all the time. I had to drive my dad to a heart op. Maybe everyone has a similar reason. But I bet there's loads who are just addicted to the cult of individuality, which sees public transport as failure, a view backed up by awful public transport links. As a motorcyclist, 55 limit sounds very boring. But safer, greener. And if it was 55 reliably, it would likely be faster than a theoretical 70 limit.

@Em0nM4stodon@infosec.exchange right. I tried a few countries but I didn't get anywhere. I think people need to be making more of a thing about this; so many people choose to ignore the rushing control and censorship of YouTube, as if it's not run by google.

@henry_barreto @jcrabapple @TheBreadmonkey kagi is all about AI. It's funded by the same bros. And it's a US company so there is no real privacy because of us laws. I was a paying customer until it went big on the AI crap. The heavy, I felt, promotion of AI and remembering not to add a ? to searches (which triggers an AI summary) annoyed me. @the_wub@mastodon.social Freetube ceased working, as many privacy focussed YT apps did. It's working again today, but what's clear is that this is by the Grace of Google, which is flighty. People put stuff on YT as if it were a global free archive of stuff that's always going to be accessible; this is clearly not the case!
