Morning world. Someone, at some time today, will be removing my gas meter and stopping the supply. This is planned, and not because I haven’t paid my bills.

Well, I don’t think much physical work will happen. I tried some gentle stuff, and lasted about ten minutes. 😔

Morning world. I’m off on an adventure today. I’m meeting a fedifriend at Eltham Palace and gardens in south London. I’m really looking forward to seeing the palace, and meeting my friend again.

That was a splendid and very enjoyable visit to Eltham Palace with @autoperipatetikos@neurodifferent.me and her Significant Other. The weather held, and just right for a gentle stroll around the grounds and gardens after doing the house.

I didn’t take any photos. There’s plenty online if you want to see the place. Now I’ve been there, I will return at some point and do the tourist thing.

There are some folk I need to chase up. The rubbish removal fellow hasn't come back to me to organise a survey, and I need to catch my electrician neighbour to see if he'd do some work for me. I suppose more loft clearance may be on the cards, too.

The verdict: the boiler is broken. 😂 There’s two parts that seem to have given up. The engineer will see if parts can be sourced. If not, then we start to look at alternatives. I’ve been wanting to ditch the gas for a while now, and this might be that opportunity.

@sundogplanets@mastodon.social You could use Ford Transit. That’s a typical panel van, and used by every builder and trade out there. It’s about the size of the F150, I think.

My ears are pierced. I habitually wear stud earrings all the time. Last night, while getting ready for bed, I caught a butterfly clip in my clothing. I didn’t notice it was missing for a while. I got a torch, and scanned the carpet for glints of gold, but couldn’t see the errant clip. Well, reader, I looked again this morning. I was on the point of giving up when I found the clip. Yay! Thank you for reading today's instalment of "A Boring Day In The Life Of…”

It’s not going to get easier, is it. I’ve reached an age where famous people I grew up with are dying. It feels like little glimmers of my past are winking out, one by one.

I heard a cry, and saw my elderly neighbour on his back in his front garden. He'd stumbled and fallen against the concrete path. A nasty graze on his elbow, and a couple of dings on his face. No signs of concussion, so it don’t think he landed too heavily. I helped him up and into his house. I helped him clean up as best we could, basic dressing on the elbow to keep it clean. His daughter's on her way over. It’s all excitement round here.

Allowing for a lunch break, I’m done. Three pairs of gangways done. There was swearing. There has to be some paint next. There’ll be no excuse for avoiding actually putting these models together now. First job for tomorrow.

There is extended structure. The ladies’ coffee morning and the model club are monthly. I need to work on something more granular, perhaps on a weekly or fortnightly cycle. It’ll form in time, with gentle prods in the right direction every now and then.

It doesn’t seem like two hours, and I don’t seem to have much to show for it. Fiddly handrails, bent to shape to fit holes already defined. Not much wastage, and no paint damage. I suppose that’s a win. Next? Door furniture. That’s going to take ages.

I can’t remember the last time I walked so far. I chose not to wear my sensible smart shoes, so I have a couple of toes that are now complaining. I also can’t remember the last time spent quite so much on clothes in one hit! I’ll have to be careful next time my surrogate sister suggests we go shopping!

@Maker_of_Things@cupoftea.social Thanks! 😊 Wounds are superficial, perhaps a bruise or two tomorrow. He has admitted he's much more unstable now. Hopefully his family can work out something to help round the house and garden. I’ve said he should always carry a phone with him so at least he can summon help if needed.

@lionelb@expressional.social Main heating/cooling is by air source heat pump. The gas boiler is a legacy central heating system, used to make a tank of hot water (and as heating backup if required). Best Beloved and I talked a lot about switching entirely to electricity for hot water. I need to explore the options available. The cost might mean other projects may need to be postponed, though.
