I WANT nice old White women to have medical care. I WANT my White brothers not to go bankrupt if they get sick. I WANT White children to eat and learn for free. I want OUR success to build better lives for our children.
Many systems need fixing, but sneering at the wealth we built when it could be used to ennoble our struggling brothers is sad. We built a great machine of plenty and we need to regain control of it, not convince ourselves the machine was the problem all along.

They did take a big hit a few years back for the PFAS chemical debacle but I doubt they will notice or care too much. Hopefully it sets up the people affected at least (24 homeowners for this one, out of 2k+?). Juries really do, I feel, fail to understand how hard you need to hit these companies to get the maintenance and care to be worth more than the lawsuit.

@D00B@clew.lol @bronze@pl.kitsunemimi.club @pernia@cum.salon I have cleaned public women's toilets twice in my life and both times they are fucking rancid compared to the men's toilets. They get up to absolute shenanigans in those things, man. it's horrific.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st I swear you could measure the salt with a micrometer and still it would randomly be more or less salty. Pasta is a magical and divine item and we should not question its whims.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Early 2000s startup culture was a bunch of funded little shitheads rolling up into the garage/game dev cultures and applying the small-team passion-project culture to these funded, venture seeking entities.
The 80 hour weeks weren't productive past six month runs or so, and they went from "build project quick to sell, hit market running, or get bought out." This made more sense back then because the product could be something super stupid and simple like a fucking ringtone website or a website aggregating people selling cool rocks or some stupid shit. Keep in mind, there were passionate, driven, best-of-the-best programmers who were often self-taught and WANTED to be programmers. Not diploma mill, money seekers. It's nearly impossible to filter for that type assuming they're gullible enough to join the industry at this point.
The well dried up fast and you got two splits: Idea guys looking for a gimmick to make a site around and "we're a corporation but we run like a startup" meaning we give you a salary and no equity and still want the 80 hour work weeks.
NONE of that shit works now. You don't need a corp to make or scale anything. Everyone is massively overemployed. You don't need 80 hour work weeks to make any of this shit. And the tech stacks are just a bunch of open source mazes full of nightmares and people trying to find new ways to waste money on AWS.
40 Dockers to get a basic product running? Sure! It's clean and portable and AWS scales for us!
The idiots tweeting are only capable of following a corporate playbook. The early days weren't magic, they were just first stakes in fertile soil and building was easier because the available people were smarter and the tech stacks were "simpler" in that they weren't stupid framework towers.
I AM RAMBLING, but it's not magical knowledge that the tech industry is overemployed, but they're only trimming people to replace them with Indian niggercattle and getting rid of the cheerleading departments sometimes. They have no idea how to select for real talent or downscale their operations. And honestly, the dev environments almost don't support it anymore. Writing things in pure ECMA or whatever else, it's almost like trying to manufacture a product in the USA.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Sure, I wrote everything in one big function with 20 parameters and it's all in one file with no linebreaks, but it compiles and that's how you know there's no valid complaints about it.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Well now we're "happy" arguably, with the results of the agricultural revolution and its happening is handily glosses over as a casual fact that just made everything better.
But the early era of industrialization was rife with violence, rioting, protests, unionization, union busting, deeply exploitative trade practices. It was a mess. It still IS a mess, but it was even worse back when it all kicked off.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st One of the things that has been a goal of management of all tiers since decades ago was avoiding responsibility. Look into concepts like Six Sigma to see the early attempts to formally make blame bottom up rather than top down.
I know programmers who have found themselves unemployable. Especially guys who were content to remain code monkeys and not climb the ladder. Meanwhile, I know PMs and other made-up management jobs (all female) who have failed their way upward and seem to be unable to ruin their own careers. This is a special sort of cancer in the games industry, especially in non-art creative departments (writing, producing, "narrative design," and so on).
Part of it is wanting to get rid of White men, but a serious part of it is KPIs and AGILE (more or less dead now I guess) and Dashboards that literally only the bottom rung of the ladder are capable of being judged failures at. A manager, so long as she assigned tasks and answered emails, did her job well. The programmer who was given unworkable timelines and vague concepts of what they needed to be doing? They are the ones who have failed.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st Once the Jews erase all borders we will find out the entire human population isn't enough workers to produce products for the populations of countries with enough spare time and money to consume those products, somehow, and we will have to start the search for alien life in earnest. Very exciting times.

I'm interested in the $40/hr feeding a baby job if she doesn't want it. I didn't realize people were paying that high to do a few hours of work taking care of infants.

This is the input to output ratio of an agent I have spinning on some random bullshit toy I wanted but there wasn't a good Windows alternative for but don't care enough about to build properly.
This is a single session to add a minor subfeature. I don't know how anyone using these for real work can stand them.

@skylar@misskey.yandere.love I think they've basically run things down to three sizes for anything home oriented. I don't do a ton of plumbing stuff though. But last time I looked it was all 4.5x10, 2.5x20, and 4.5x20.
Which is great if you're doing that sort of stuff, but if you're piping into something less thirsty, it's probably annoying. Maybe aquarium stuff has more variety? Probably not cheaper though.

@deprecated_ii@poa.st The thing that's always bothered me about shit like this is that it's almost always said by people who think that, somehow, a sufficiently advanced AI just magically violates the laws of physics and creates vulnerabilities in non-vulnerable code. It crosses airgaps through the sheer force of its AGI will.
All this would mean is that every single NSA system was vulnerable which makes about as much sense as the NSA publicly announcing anything about any of their systems at all, which they almost never do unless subpoenaed and even then.
