fox update: second cabinet installed and ready for another butcher block top
but now i've gotta figure out exactly what to do with the laminate countertop piece at the end. maybe mount it at 32ish inches high to make a lower spot for beeg items, cause the rest of the workbench is 36 at the left end and 38ish at the right end.
also i think the vent hood is getting moved up a couple inches cause i bonked my head on it already. but that's why i just stuck it up as a test before cutting the hole in the concrete.

fox update: not a whole lot of visible progress today, just added a unistrut leg at the right end of the cabinets to support the spot on the workbench where the bench vise is gonna go, moved the beeg ladder away from the future cabinets, extended the circuit from the UPS panel to the corner where the garage computer is going, and then added a few canless can lights.
i've decided the ceiling fan is going away rather than getting moved to the workbench area. it's big and not especially useful since i have a mini split heat pump. all i ever used it for was to blow on stuff to dry it, but that can be done with a way smaller fan that isn't in the way.

@cjd@pkteerium.xyz @Terry@poa.st @bulletbill22@poster.place mountains offer both strengths and weaknesses
the same mountain ranges that offer shelter from bombing and make a ground invasion near impossible can choke your own logistics if the enemy destroys enough of your infrastructure.
taking out bridges, tunnels, railroads, dams, and energy infrastructure at strategic points (and better yet, leaving the area riddled with mines) greatly increases the resources and manpower they need to accomplish everything from keeping the population fed to production of drones & missiles. making every truck take a 70 mile detour and then proceed single file at 2mph over a temporary gravel road while your refineries and pipelines are burning from american bombing limits the amount of stuff you can transport anywhere.
on the other hand, iran doesn't have democrats to stand in the way of ever building or fixing anything. you can just do things like repair a railroad bridge or dig out a collapsed tunnel entrance.

@radians@poa.st @wertimer@clubcyberia.co it switches into EMT right around the corner
there's another existing receptacle a bit to the right as well with a romex going to it that i'm gonna connect to and give it a receptacle on the other circuit
but we're probably hitting 6 feet of total flex in the middle

@Sovereign@nicecrew.digital nobody ever does the math manually outside the classroom, it's a thing you learn once to explain the concept cause it only makes sense in binary while in decimal looks like random ass numbers with absolutely no significance to anything.

@wan@wolfgirl.bar @lichelordgodfrey@poa.st @DrRyanSkelton@wolfgirl.bar @wgiwf@wolfgirl.bar hyperscalers and AI datacenters are just bigger buildings to take advantage of economy of scale. whether their financials will ever make sense are another matter entirely. i suspect many will get sold off in bankruptcy auctions after the AI bubble pops and become a glut of ordinary bit barns that'll drop colocation costs for a while.

@professionalbigot69@poa.st @cjd@pkteerium.xyz @Terry@poa.st @bulletbill22@poster.place then imagine the resources they take to operate and maintain.
by far the hardest thing to deal with would be a couple guys in a cave with a dozen drones, a little stockpile of food & supplies, and a little antenna hidden in the bushes to receive launch orders, replicated thousands of times across the country. no constant traffic in and out with materials and supplies, no large scale earth moving that'll be obvious on satellite recon, few or no radio transmissions, minimal fuel use, and resupply is just a guy riding a dirtbike into town.

@radians@poa.st @EllisDee@wolfgirl.bar no more MDF, i am tired of MDF and its constant sagging and shedding of crumbs, it's gonna be oiled & waxed hardwood
i have some glass pieces from an old glass desk that i could set on top when doing something especially foul
except one part is still gonna be MDF, at least underneath the laminate countertop. it's the old island i pulled out of my kitchen years ago and kept in the corner.

@lichelordgodfrey@poa.st @DrRyanSkelton@wolfgirl.bar @wgiwf@wolfgirl.bar they are imaginary, some states and cities are just incompetent. like the retards in georgia who whole ass forgot to enter a new customer's meter into their billing system. but because it's a datacenter, they drummed up a bunch of whining instead of trying to figure out who dropped the ball and firing that idiot.
and considering as you're on fediverse, you're getting services from datacenters right now.
