mastodon 4.7.3I post mostly in English, about #sustainability, the #EnvironmentalCrisis and the #environment, #SurveillanceCapitalism, and #FLOSS.
I've an alt @silmathoron@floss.social where I do the same, only in French.
I tend to boost a lot, so don't hesitate to mute my boosts if you feel overwhelmed (three dots on my profile > "Hide boosts from @silmathoron@floss.social")

@protonprivacy@mastodon.social is this supposed to be limited to A16 and the Google stack? Because I'm having a very similar issue on A15-based /e/OS from @e_mydata@mastodon.social where the VPN (seemingly) randomly stops. It seems to be a bit less severe, though, since just restarting the app restarts the VPN properly, but I was wondering if it was related.

Fairphone 5 or 6 is probably the best choice. All officially supported phones are supposed to get updates until they stop being able to boot the most recent android version, but FPs will also have the repairability and long-term parts availability benefits. FP5 may also be able to provide the best mobile Linux experience in the future

@deathkitten@firetribe.org I'm not even sure I see the logic: they already have the covenant, there is no additional work to be done, it's all here: https://joinmastodon.org/fr/servers
They even have the language so rotating servers could be among those that explicitly support the language of the interface you're using in the app. It's actually baffling how much better than the current system this simple change would be!

@gimulnautti@mastodon.green thanks 🙂 I'm not sure emails with special characters work... do they? If you used Python, you can add unicodedata.normalize("NFKD", your_string) to remove special characters (might not work for German ö if they transliterate it to oe, so that would need to be checked 1st).
https://docs.python.org/3/library/unicodedata.html
As for the content of the email, in English I think handpicking what matters to you from what or friends @noybeu@mastodon.social wrote would be a good start: https://noyb.eu/en/digital-omnibus-eu-commission-wants-wreck-core-gdpr-principles

Updating to the alpha, my app list now shows issues for two apps, including the mail from @protonprivacy which is apparently no longer in the repos... Is this a known issue? I did not see it in the weekly @fdroidorg news
Edit: thinking about it, maybe it was installed from the @IzzyOnDroidOrg repo, but I cannot check from the app and I also did not see any info there

@interpeer sorry to hear you're going through a rough time, I hope you'll still be able to enjoy the last hours of this year and the beginning of next year and take the heavy stuff off your mind.
Cheers!

@servo@floss.social that made me wonder, is Amazon giving anything (dev time, money, infrastructure...) to Servo, since they apparently would be interested in using it?

@miketheman@hachyderm.io it's not clear to me how trusted publishing helps in the case of something like Shai-Hulud: if your repo is corrupted, the corrupted package will be pushed to PyPi via the CI and propagated anyway, isn't it?

Same, but I do get why it could make sense to turn it off by default. It's painless enough to turn it on once when configuring a new install and it won't confuse newcomers with a feature that is quite far from what they know and potentially hard to figure out on your own (i.e. people may think it's a bug)
