I'm a dude that did a bunch of stuff like the HeyTell app, and recently I made 8bitworkshop.com so everyone can do 8-bit programming in their browser! I make other stuff too! #8bit #atari #apple2 #c64 #6502 #z80

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange @kevbob@xoxo.zone Looking further it could have been a 206. The headphones had a coiled cable. Don’t know why I remember Yamaha branding. All I know is it played a mean Taxi theme.

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange @kevbob@xoxo.zone Ha, I did the same in middle school when we were supposed to be practicing scales with our headphones. They had a room full of Fender Rhodes-like student pianos but I seem to recall Yamaha branding.

Infocom's Z-machine was introduced to the world in the July 1980 Creative Computing article "How to Fit a Large Program into a Small Machine" by Marc Blank and Stu Galley. The term "interactive fiction" hadn't been coined yet, so they called the genre "CFS" (Computerized Fantasy Simulation). Despite basically inventing the form, they didn't make fetch happen. https://mud.co.uk/richard/htflpism.htm

Angelsoft/Mindscape published a series of text adventures written in Pascal -- Turbo Pascal 3.0 for PC, UCSD Pascal for the Apple ][. Several were licensed from popular books or films. Supposedly they were written with a proprietary authoring system called ASG, but there is scant info online about it. https://retro365.blog/2019/06/10/bits-from-my-personal-collection-angelsoft-interactive-fiction/

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange @kevbob@xoxo.zone Sorta looked like that, similar greenish color, but had a quarter inch headphone jack right in front. This would have been 1986 or so. They were fun, nice action.

Dialog is an #interactivefiction language inspired by Prolog which compiles to efficient Z-machine version 5 code (for #8bit platforms) and lets you enter statements during debugging. https://dialog-if.github.io/manual/dialog/1c03-dev/intro.html
