#LinkedIn houdt bij wie de profielpagina’s bezoekt. Wie wil zien wie jouw eigen profiel heeft bezocht, moet je daarvoor betalen. Het is onduidelijk of het bijhouden van bezoekers legaal is. Het standpunt van @noybeu@mastodon.social is dat als deze gegevens worden getoond als onderdeel van een premium-lidmaatschap, ze dat ook zijn op grond van artikel 15 #AVG (#inzagerecht). Maar LinkedIn weigert.

Threat actors abuse #Obsidian its legitimate community plugin ecosystem, specifically the #ShellCommands and #Hider plugins, to silently execute code when a victim opens a shared cloud vault targeting #Windows and #macOS.
It does require manually enabled sync of community plugins.

On iOS one can select the text and copy it. Add a small introduction line like I did and you’re done. I can imagine, based on the number of posts, it’s a lot of work for @VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social, but together we can.

@schmidt_fu I expect the plugins to exactly do what they are made for. If you don’t think from a risk perspective it can probably do really wonderful things 😇
The question remains whether you should even want this kind of plugin in an app like Obsidian in the first place.

@TimWardCam Where there is no law, I think the best safeguard is to develop an ethical compass. I don’t know the details of the story, but it certainly sounds like an unethical decision.
Furthermore, it should be illegal to purchase insurance that covers fines. That would completely undermine the principle of imposing fines for wrongdoing.

@TimWardCam As far as I understand American law, it is the jury that decides whether you are guilty or not, and the judge determines the sentence.
As for insurance: insurance companies are also out to make a profit. So if the fines are completely arbitrary, the insurance company will try to manage the risk in some way or set the premiums so high that it is no longer cost-effective for you.
The solution probably lies in legislation, insofar as it does not already exist.
The first topic of this episode of the podcast “The Interface” is the shift of #Google search results toward #AI. A number of interesting points are raised that may prompt the community to consider a federated alternative as a response to the relentless pursuit of power and dominance by such entities and the resulting decline of the Internet and the freedom that originally came with it.
