WebSerial has landed in Firefox Nightly !! 🎉

Enable it in about:config and it all just works as expected. Took a brand new ESP32 and had a new Bluetooth proxy added to Home Assistant within 2 minutes 👌

Ok, small experiment to see if this scales…

We've developed a new open standard to create the best music experience across multiple devices and rooms. It's called Sendspin.

You can try it in the latest release of @musicassistant@fosstodon.org, or try the live demo on our website:

Let me know what you think!

This is me at State of the Open Home last year and this year. After years of struggling with my weight, Zepbound (GLP-1 / tirzepatide) helped me take control and lose 30kg in 7 months. I feel better and have more energy than I had in years. If you're struggling with weight and can afford it, I highly recommend it.

New ESPHome release landed and it's 🔥 A lot of work has been done to make ESPHome faster and use less memory. This continues this release, alongside a whole range of new features like LVGL upgrades and a new Mitsubishi CN105 component.

With the right skills, AI is great at finding vulnerabilities. Sentry developed Warden to automate this, and used Home Assistant as a test bed. Our admin/user role split has been a work in progress for years, and Warden just flagged all the places we missed. Neat!

@diabolovampire Should not be a problem, we've developed a ton of different SDKs for different platforms. Raspberry Pi's, Windows and Android can run our daemon. Device support is extended via our Sendspin to AirPlay and Cast bridges.

But co-pilot's work is not done yet! It will propose a branch name, pull request title and description 😃 I created the PR, the tests passed, Klaas reviewed and approved it and an hour later it was merged and live: https://github.com/home-assistant/home-assistant.io/pull/32658

The cool thing is that you can actually go ahead and change anything that was generated. Don't like a point? Edit it, replace it or drop it all together. As a human, you're in control and that is what makes this so useful. Based on the specification it will generate a plan. In my case, it proposed to add a link to the Yellow home, the website footer and the about section in the sidebar of the blog. I removed the task for the Yellow site and added a general note with the link of the OHF website

Next is the implementation phase and copilot will execute the plan for each file and generate a diff. In this case, it added the links to the right location.

Now, this is a very simple example but I can't wait to see people pushing it to the limits. I don't consider the output of CoPilot spam because a human has to approve the spec and plan. The generated files can be edited in a codespace, pushed to a branch or turned directly into a PR.

Great (and fun!) video by Paul about how easy it is to get AI to help you build your smart home. Shout out to Magnus Overli, creator of the OpenCode app fully pre-configured for Home Assistant. Installs in minutes! This is the true power of an open platform. The true power of our community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-FZ4ZjGI5E
