@jmcastagnetto@mastodon.social I am one of these veterans. I have been developing in php for almost thirty years. There still is more than enough work for me, but lately retirement is looking better and better. I *really* don't look forward to a future of troubleshooting and fixing AI slop. And juniors do not learn to code anymore, they just vibe shit. When (not if) things start breaking down everywhere, I want to be working in my garden with my hands in the dirt.

@mcc@mastodon.social @jcnotwit@mastodon.social the unix password manager does exactly that (and much more) and has an otp plugin, works fine. https://www.passwordstore.org/

@nixCraft@mastodon.social this needs a rooted phone because there is a bug in the Android bluetooth stack. Google has been aware of this bug for over a year now but they are refusing to fix it. 🙄

@ainmosni @homelab I have no experience with it myself (I am still using nextcloud, don't feel like migrating) but I heard good things about OpenCloud, https://github.com/opencloud-eu . Seems to fit your requirements as well.

@timbray@cosocial.ca finally! This reminds me of this Chinese proverb about planting a tree.

@Dokza@infosec.exchange nextcloud has a config check in the admin settings that checks if everything is setup correctly, including some security / webserver settings. If your instance is publicly accessible (without vpn) then you should also use https://scan.nextcloud.com/ to get an assessment of the security of your instance. Use strong and unique passwords + MFA everywhere, and of course keep all your server software up to date.

@larsmb@mastodon.online the amount of bullshit it generates is sad. But hey let's put it in everything, what could possibly go wrong.

@RosaCtrl@social.vivaldi.net oh yes. Often you have to walk the path before you realize it is the wrong path.
