I have an update with 20+ bug fixes waiting for review since Sunday. Now I have another large batch of bug fixes I'm looking to submit ASAP afterwards.

Compare this to the web, where I could be shipping these bug fixes hourly.

I still believe the ideal strategy would have been:

1. Get UIKit to full parity with AppKit.
2. Deprecate AppKit.
3. Architect SwiftUI as a declarative layer on top of UIKit, not as an alternative. Refactor UIKit as needed to make the integration super robust. Provide no-compromise bidirectional integration points.

Anyone had any luck with Siri AI and AppShortcuts?

AppShortcuts have historically been recommended for integrating custom AppIntents with Siri that aren't relevant to a SiriKit or AppIntent schema domain.

This integration has always been really iffy, but it seems even worse with Siri AI. Typing in or dictating the exact phrase often fails or leads to Siri doing something stupid.

The wallpapers do look pretty. Do they look like Pride to you though? To me they just look like pretty gradients. I'm glad Apple still celebrates Pride, and I don't want them to stop. But this overall misses the mark. Personally, I'd be much more excited about this flavor of rainbow capitalism if it came with some more authenticity.

It is a bummer because I was banking on these issues being fixed by now. I have a huge Foodnoms update that is almost ready, but I can’t ship it, because it would break syncing with the Mac app. I could load up Sequoia and Xcode 16.4, but Apple is going to stop accepting binaries from 16.4 in April. And the UI compatibility plist option isn’t any better. It’s ugly AF.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social I think I have a strategy to maximize sharing code, but it is going to require a decent amount of forking and customization. I wouldn’t be able to stomach this either, except these days with Claude, it feels manageable. It helps the iOS app is 95% SwiftUI and well-factored.

@agiletortoise@mastodon.social I think that is entirely sensible and probably the best approach for a best-in-class Mac app. From my first impressions after getting an early proof-of-concept developed, pure SwiftUI seems good enough for my app. Hopefully that remains true.
