You might remember how @mattgodbolt@hachyderm.io discussed integer division by a fixed integer in #aoco and ofc I already spent way more time than justified on these two lines of code, but here is the #cpp reminder https://godbolt.org/z/d9eMWYsEq with [[assume]]
With #rustlang , there's another tweak https://godbolt.org/z/89nn91o74 how to tell the compiler "sar is fine": div_euclid
Today's LLM credits all wasted. But maybe I figured out how to use LLMs in a way to be more productive. As nerds we like correcting people. Today I actually thought "adding these things to the API, is boring, let $LLM do that". It was a complete failure, but I didn't have to stare at a blank file and write from scratch. I could hit "abort", roll my eyes, and fix the type constraints, the control flow, the return type, the argument types, … the entire logic
Random thought:
Line break decisions in auto formatters shouldn't consider indentation in the line length count.
I don't like how adding / removing an if causes lines to wrap/join. Especially when rebasing and I have to resolve conflicts just because an editted line moved into an if block.
and / map / and_then / or_else … anything taking a lambda as argument, same problem.
I'd be more willing to accept smart-phone only restaurant menus if revointouch.works didn't have a quasi monopoly and was so utter garbage.
And maybe places with neither cell phone reception nor WiFi shouldn't use it as single option.
And if you offer translations, you should check them.
Lukewarm take.
The bug tracker states for an issue shouldn't be open/closed.
In three years, somebody is going to stumble over the closed ticket wondering "it's closed, why is it still happening? Am I on an old version? Does the fix not work?", while actually the situation is "this isn't going to urgent/important enough to be picked up in this or the coming quarter. We just have other things to do. Don't wait for a fix. Sorry"
The DNA free water could've served as segue to the phantom of Heilbronn. … Oh well …
Don't you just hate it when your screw-on bike pump unscrews the valve core instead of detaching from the valve?
@TechConnectify "I needed to floor it to get around that truck"
Sounds to me like something that indicators could* have communicated to the driver in the other lane during the time the lights were red?!?
- Not saying you didn't have the indicators on - you're not driving a BMW - but I find it so frustrating when people who find themselves in the wrong lane and don't indicate to the people behind them "hey, please let me pull over into your lane" during red and pull over just as you accelerate
