Today I learned about `git clone --filter blob:none` - it's awesome! It's a sort of lazy git clone, letting you access the entire history but only downloading it when needed.

I find it striking how the #CommunityDevroom of #FOSDEM is revolving around the corporate side of #opensource. Is it that #grassroots projects might just not have the capacity to work on community health as much? Or is this all this chatter just a sort of #pinkwashing that companies do to improve their image, which community projects just don't need? I would really welcome voices from smaller, volunteer-based #FOSS projects.

@benjamingeer@piaille.fr you need some level of expertise for sure, but for most tools (such as Neovim) you shouldn't need much knowledge of their internals to maintain queries for them. At least in #mergiraf we try our best to offer a relatively simple interface that people can use with no knowledge of Rust. For tree-sitter parser maintenance itself, it is not rare to stumble on problems that require deeper tree-sitter knowledge, but in general it's relatively shallow I would say.

@martin_kirch@piaille.fr I agree non-commercial FOSS is even less diverse than corporate FOSS, but that makes me want to hear more about how to change those situations :) And I think white middle-aged men without kids would still benefit from thinking more about how they work together - probably more so than others, even?
